When's the last time Eugene Wilson really hit someone?

Do you remember what BB said was the problem with yielding lot of rushing yardage in 2002 when our NT couldn't cut it.

He said the run is a responsibility of the Line and LBs. But any play over 20 yards on the ground is the responsibility of the Safeties. I think it is highly indicative that the Pats have not yielded a long rush for a TD of over 20 yards.

Geno is doing his job, very well. Even when he doesn't finish the tackle, he slows them up enough to insure someone else can recover and stop the offensive player. There were at least three plays that the Cowboys executed that against other Teams might well have yielded a TD for them. Two runs one each by by Barber and JJ, that got deep into the secondary, and the KO return that was stopped by Harrison after some 70 yards. In every case the Safeties did theiir job. Geno was in on both rushes.
:rocker:

LOL! You really don't want to keep ridiculous arguement of criticizing Wilson for making the tackle, but not making it pretty enough for the refs not to totally blow the call.

It is funny how much Wilson haters so much want to blame him that they will even blame him for doing his job and the refs blowing the call. If this was Harrison (who has many times just tripped the RB rather than a full hit), you'd probably scream to high heavan that the refs blew the call when Harrison did his job.

He didn't "make the tackle". What part of that don't you understand?

If it was Harrison, the guy would have been on the ground or had Rodney wrapped around him. With that type of angle, Harrison wouldn't have left it to chance. that's why he's rodney.

Eugene is a very talented player. I watch him avoid contact. I don't like it.

By the way, our front three is the biggest reason we stop the run this year..

James Sanders doesn't make many huge hits, either (and he plays SS). Maybe we should move him to CB.

James Sanders hits and wraps up well. This is about taking on big running backs, not highlight reel hits.

This is what Eugene is avoiding while Sanders sticks his nose in their and makes the tackle, from what I've seen

Of course he did! Just because the refs didn't make the call doesn't mean he didn't make the tackle. This isn't a tree falls in the woods hypothesis. Just because the ref didn't see the RB's elbow hit the ground doesn't mean his elbow didn't touch the ground. If TO caught a 75 yard TD pass and his foot touched the line around the 50 yard line and ref doesn't see it and Belichick doesn't throw the replay flag doesn't mean TO didn't go out of bounds. Same thing.

Come on! This Rodney would never do it arguement is BS. Yeah, Harrison has never made a poor technique tackle in his 14 year career. Get real. Weak! Weak arguement.

No.

What you're saying is that Wilson shouldn't be playing safety because he can't make BIG hits. On the whole, Wilson has been a very solid tackler this year (partially evidenced by his tackling stats).

Safety, in particular free safety, is about a whole lot more than being able to tackle hard.

No, I'm saying he chooses to avoid taking a big hit if that's what's required to make the tackle.

If you have someone lined up for a short gain or loss, I'm no real happy if you stop him after five yards when you get a safer angle. Still a tackle on the stat sheet.

You would like to overturn every questionable referees decision in the history of the NFL? Good luck.

For me, I just say, make the hit, make the tackle and wrap up.

I think that Belichick guy would agree with me.

Except Wilson has played primarily as a deep safety all season. When would Wilson have someone lined up for a short gain. Besides, Wilson took a few players head on against Cleveland.

Wilson was the deep safety all day yesterday. On both running plays in question he was at least 10 yards off the ball. Again, I think people want to see what they want to see.

Couldn't agree more.

I would like to overturn every bad call, but I do know it would never happen.

I think Belichick wouldn't agree with you. He might or might not have liked the technique, but he would have given Wilson credit for making the play because HE MADE THE PLAY. You are the only person I have ever seen who wants to blame the player for the refs blowing a call.

ok, this is just plain stupid now. If you want to trash Wilson for the refs blowing a call in which he in reality made the play, go ahead. It is just redundant to continue to argue with you since you just want to find any excuse to trash Wilson.

Hey he deserved blame for the first tackle he missed. I have no problems with blaming players for things they did, but going out of your way to make up reasons to trash a player you don't like is just player hating and not really productive.
