Antonio Brown

If reports about Kraft being the one to ultimately release Brown are correct, I have to say that’s a pretty ballsy move considering his sexual indiscretions in the offseason. Pun fully intended.

I knew BB wouldn't release AB just like that. WTF. Kraft is proving again that we win despite the ownership not because of it. It's BB and Brady. Kraft is along for the ride and he better not get too handsy.

Some reports out now claiming that Belichick didn’t run the Brown signing by Kraft at all.

On the one hand, that’s probably pretty normal — why bother Kraft for most signings?

On the other hand, given all of Brown’s craziness in shooting his way out PIT and then nuking his way out of OAK, having at least some discussion with the owner would seem to be wise.
That goes against Kraft’s own comments about asking Brady if he was on board and that whole 100% 1000%... thing.

Brady addressed it in his weekly interview with Jim Gray last night. Here’s a link that goes into it but you can use Google too...

Tom Brady addresses Antonio Brown rumors in national radio interview

That’s not an outright dismissal. That sounds like what a typical employee says when the boss makes a decision you don’t agree with because it has a close impact on what you do for a living.
Well that addresses Brady not agreeing with it, which doesn’t surprise me but it doesn’t say anything about bb not agreeing with it.

Why is that "diminishing" Belichick? I admire him more for it. He wouldn't be cowed by others who said "Don't hire AB" and he also wouldn't get on his knees to AB like those jellyfish enablers Tomlin and Gruden.

It's his way or the highway. We won't be hearing any secret Gruden-like tapes of BB calling AB and saying "C'mon, man will you pretty please come to practice and stop group harrassing people through texts"??????

He's onto Buffalo and everyone knows their job.

.
Umm the argument is that Belichick wanted to keep him and kraft overruled him.

Exactly.

To everyone who hates Kraft for whatever reason and feels that their football enjoyment is lessened because of him, the Jets and Giants are only 200 miles away and the Bills aren't that far either.

There are 31 other owners of NFL franchises out there. We have, by far, the best of the bunch. And it's not even close.

There's a reason the rest of the country said in unison two weeks ago, New England is the only franchise AB could go to where he is not a danger to the franchise.

THINK

.
You can have issues with kraft and not have to go find another team or be demonized as less of a fan.
I disagree with what kraft did in science gate BECAUSE I am a fan.

I trust BB's judgement over krafty bob's. Kraft should not have intervened because he probably had no idea what was in the text messages..just heard he "posted" pics of her kids and decided he had to go.

Was it Kraft that asked him or BB?

He might have. This was not a football decision. This was not deciding who gets the last 2 spots on the 53. Owners get to make these decisions .... because it is their team.

You are correct, but I don't believe for a second BB was pressing to keep AB late last week. BB doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who wants to pay millions to have a player ride on the exempt list, which there was at least a decent chance of considering the NFL's statement on the matter. Let alone for the drama and circus AB brought to the locker room. I think reporters make sh*t up all the time and this is a prime example. Very seriously doubt Kraft had to do much arm twisting on this one.

Personally I don’t think BB should have absolute power over personnel issues because of cases like this. When it comes to talent evaluation, anyone would be stupid to not let him make those calls. Kraft forcing the issue with Brown due to egregious personal conduct, IMO, is a far cry from the beef Parcells had with Kraft. Cue comments about Kraft’s own personal conduct.

I'm sure BB loved what he saw in practice, but he is level-minded too, not a giddy teenage girl. All that talent doesn't do much good if he's not even allowed to play.

Kraft played to the crowd.

Yeah, I'm sure the guy that went from middle class Brookline yeshiva boy to multi-billionaire did it by being casual about multimillion dollar decisions

More like played to the "I don't want to give millions to a guy sitting on the exempt list if I don't have to."
I'm sure that didn't help the case for him to stay

There's kind of a wide gulf between someone paying for a * at a massage parlor and raping a woman.

Call me late to the party and uninformed, but I just want to get my unpopular opinion on the record. I haven't been following this much because I just assumed Brown was an idiot and every negative thing said about him re: the text message must have been true. I also see that a lot of respectable people on here take great issue with Brown's texts, so there might be something I'm missing.

I just viewed the texts for the first time last night. On first blush, I don't see any obvious or implied threat, or at least not a clear one. To me, Brown just looks like a guy getting a head start on the adversarial process (which is enshrined and typically plays out in the court process - that is, testing the other side's position). The fact her kids were in the picture could be explained away as just being the picture he had handy on his phone. He's been subjected to vile accusations and wants to get as much information/dirt on the person making those accusations to undermine their position. Certainly this is something that would be done in the midst of litigation, only the process with this one is being played out in the media. The only real issue is making that plan known to the other side/letting it go public when he should be laying low and drawing no further attention to these claims.

Sorry to add another useless fly-by opinion to this nearly 500 page thread.
