Threatening some guy for whatever reason isn't going to make him not play. Walking around his house with a washcloth over his junk isn't going to make him not play.
The exempt list is set up for a Hernandez like situation. The player is accused of something awful, by the police, and it gives the league a means of getting him out of there until they can determine what is up. Before justice is served. It isn't set up to punish players. As far as I can tell, the league isn't going to put him on the exempt list to do some deep investigation of a civil matter. They do their do diligence and move on. Unless something new pops up which is germane to the case.
