I'm not taking either side in this current case, but I wouldn't have used the Duke lacrosse case as my evidentiary example. While it's true the players weren't guilty of rape, their other behavior in that incident was despicable and disgusting, and I'm the furthest thing from a prude. Their actions were far more egregious than "nothing at all "
The three players accused were declared innocent of any wrong doing. What are you even talking about? Sounds like you haven’t read much about that case.

When BB signed AB, it was asking for trouble and inviting bad karma. Signing him so quickly after the crap he pulled in Pittsburgh and Oakland was not a good look. The patriots did NOT need this potential for drama and disruption. No matter whether AB is guilty or innocent, this was a terrible football decision by BB and risks dividing the locker room.

I have no idea if AB is innocent or guilty, but taking this chance on AB was bad judgemnt.

Publicly, not a chance. And privately, I think if they believe he's guilty they'll release him. Only my opinion.

What makes you think that they think he is guilty?

She wanted 1.6 million dollars for her business & to pay off her home.

It happened in 2017 & 2018, but she waited until July 2019 until he signed with the Patriots.

Sure seems fishy to me.

Potentially, but malice also requires intent I would think, so they would have to prove she intended to harm him and did not believe any of the advances were unwanted to a degree at any encounter they had. That would seem hard to do. Maybe I'm incorrect on the former part tho
No. No intent is needed. “Actual malice” is a legal term of art and is a terrible one because it leads people to think the same incorrect thing you just did. It only means what I quoted in the earlier post — knowing what was said was false or recklessly disregarding whether it was false or not.

No, you're wrong. I said they were found not guilty of rape. The other behavior I said was disgusting and despicable, and I'm right. It was.

You weren't right. You were absolutely wrong.

While it's true the players weren't guilty of rape

RALEIGH, N

They weren't guilty. They were innocent, and actually declared so, eventually. They were victims of prosecutorial misconduct. They serve as an excellent example.

I meant that initially everyone ignored it and asked why she came out after such a long time. It wasn't until there were multiple
Acaccusers that she ended up on cnn.

His first accuser filed a police report immediately.

What do you want me to say. In this league, you tolerate more ******** for the players that make the most difference. It's not about fair, it's about reality. We don't need AB, he has not played a down for this team, we won a Super Bowl last year, two years before that, and two years before that, he is not needed.

The risk of him being not guilty and losing the potential of him simply doesn not outweigh the risk of sticking with him through a circus with the potential that he is guilty and we deal with a world of ****.
How about you go back to ChiefsPlanet and we'll call you after we win #7.

Schefter said there are rumblings he goes on commish exempt list until sorted out.
Doesn't make sense to me as court case would take over a year probably

Jesus, does anyone read anymore? Where did I write that I believe they think he 's guilty?

So on one side of the table, we have what we call "victim blaming."

On the other side, we have something that's called "virtue signaling."

Both are ugly. It's definitely possible to be like "Well, I'm going to respect the due process and acknowledge the accuser's claim. At the same time, Brown has the right to defend his innocence, and should get an opportunity to present his case."

There have been too many cases where something obviously happened, an OVERWHELMING amount of times the accused never met their day. And that sucks big time, it's terrible, and inexcusable. That doesn't mean every case is true.

I dunno, that's pretty much it folks. We'll see what plays out.

Bullcrap. They hired a stripper and told crude jokes. You know, the sorts of things college students do.

Well, I openly questioned why she came out after years myself.

This post is flagged and penalized 10 yards and a loss of down for not being factual.

With all due respect, who cares what the fans feared? The team made a judgment call.
I was surprised they took him. They did, so as a fan I of course hope it works out.

Incarcerated Bob rocking supposed IG private messages between AB and some chick who claims to have proof that it's extortion. Supposedly accuser and her mother hatched this plan...

That's absurd if it ends up happening. All because of an accusation.

What's stopping someone from making the same accusation against Brady?

The pre-existing circus and [mostly warranted] public dislike of Brown should not be a factor.

Maybe I misconstrued what I said initially, not going back to re-read. The basic gist I was getting to is to NOT vilify the accuser/victim right off the bat and to take the accusation serious because it still takes remarkable bravery or stupidity to put yourself out there.

That is not the basic gist of what you were getting at.

Comments:

1.) Guilty until proven innocent is how we approach sexual assault cases. And it should be that way...most victims are telling the truth. So, it is better to err on the side of the victim.

So you're a dishonest poster.

To those who think the Pats were privy to this before they signed him are being overly optimistic. No way they knew. They would not have traded DT and would want to take on this bombshell in season. BB hates distractions.

They are going to be pissed at AB and Drew from keeping this from them. AB better not care when they give him number 81

Professional athletes hate 1. Gold diggers and 2. The Media. The fact is that this type of story, pushed potentially by a combination of 1 and 2, is more likely to bring the team together, than to tear it apart.

Well you are right about that. I don't know you well enough to call you a misogynist. And while your posts DID seem to lean that way, I should have been more circumspect. Sorry.

But I think your distaste for the Me Too movement, like my comment, is also too reactionary. No movement "shakes the foundations of the world" on initial impact. What Me Too did was move the needle off the inertia that existed beforehand and started the process. It at least got the "discussion" going and sent a scary warning to potential abusers. But that alone doesn't stop it from happening or others taking advantage. Despite your misgivings and disappointment in it, we are a little better off because of it, at least the women we love are.
In spirit, I agree with you Ken but down here in Australia, we've had a run of false accusations against famous men, almost all juries found in favour of the accused. That didn't stop the media from raking them across coals and ruining their public standing. It pisses me off because it legitimately makes it so much harder for real victims to come forward and be taken seriously. That's what aggravates me the most about the sideshow of widespread accusations.

Huh? She never said she was raped. Dude, take a breather and leave the thread for a couple of days.

She was a porn star. People were saying it was a money grab.
