Antonio Brown

I'm guessing krafty Bob deep sixes Antonio Brown...so, in 6 weeks when Josh Gordon fires up the bong and fails another test, we're back to square one and the receiver corps being suspect big time....No Brown, No D Thomas and we have Edelman, Dorsett, and 2 rookies...not encouraging, especially w Michel averaging 1 yard a carry Sunday night
You should change your screen name to Black Cloud. Please, find a team you're happy about rooting for and leave this place.

Kaepernick just won a huge amount of money
1) that wasn’t a lawsuit.
2) it was about collusion, not wrongful termination
3) he didn’t “win” anything - the sides settled.

Should AB suit up against Miami?

Yes, unless he's suspended by the league or convicted of a crime before the end of the week.

Should AB suit up against Miami? I think from a PR perspective AB should be benched for a few weeks at least. Idk who's lying but either way, this ain't going to end well.
Don’t think they should hide him because of an accusation.

What do you want me to say. In this league, you tolerate more ******** for the players that make the most difference. It's not about fair, it's about reality. We don't need AB, he has not played a down for this team, we won a Super Bowl last year, two years before that, and two years before that, he is not needed.

The risk of him being not guilty and losing the potential of him simply doesn not outweigh the risk of sticking with him through a circus with the potential that he is guilty and we deal with a world of ****.
There is no guilt or innocence involved. It's not a criminal complaint.

I wonder if Brady, Gisselle and Kato are playing Parchese and discussing this right now.

Nor should the accused be vilified. Did you ever pay attention to the Duke Lacrosse case and how those kids lives were absolutely ruined for nothing at all?

How about erring on the side of evidence and logic?
I'm not taking either side in this current case, but I wouldn't have used the Duke lacrosse case as my evidentiary example. While it's true the players weren't guilty of rape, their other behavior in that incident was despicable and disgusting, and I'm the furthest thing from a prude. Their actions were far more egregious than "nothing at all "

(Hypothetically) Is there any reason why she’d go the civil route if it did actually happen?

No legal charges - They DA probably decided they could not win in court.

It is a lot easier to win in civil court & chance are they want this settled out of court.

OJ was found innocent of murder, but found guilty in civil court.

That wasn't a wrongful termination lawsuit, it was collusion to prevent employment. Kaepernick's contract expired, it wasn't terminated.

I don't think the Patriots are going to cut Brown, but I don't think fear of a grievance plays any role in that either.

They were completely innocent of the charges. It was a rare case of complete exoneration, as opposed to an inability to prove a case. "Nothing at all" is completely appropriate, as is the use of the case as an example.

Falsely calling a public figure a rapist is gonna meet the “actual malice” standard, which says that if a public figure sues for defamation he has to prove by a preponderance of the evidence (“50% plus a feather”) that the utterer spoke “with knowledge that it was false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not.”

A false claim of rape (if it really is false) will easily meet that bar. This isn’t like some news media person hearing something from a source that in their experience is generally trustworthy but wasn’t this time, publishing it, and getting sued.
Statements made in court - or in court filings - are considered privileged and, as such, not eligible to be made the basis of a defamation lawsuit.

So if she goes to the media and says AB kicks puppies, he can sue her for defamation. But if she makes the exact same statement under oath (or in a maneuver/communication related to a court filing), that statement is protected against a defamation lawsuit.

Heck of a signing there Bill!

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we ignore character when signing football players!

I had the under on 4 weeks!

The Patriots obviously disagree because they certainly knew about this prior to signing him.

ESPN updated their story to say:

“A spokesman for the Patriots told the New York Times, who was first to report the lawsuit, that the team had not heard about the lawsuit or any related allegations.”

So the plot thickens.

Just like BB had no idea Luck retired. Right?

Ah, it was what I was getting at....oh well...never been quoted as much as tonight.

....One more time. I’m all for anti-vilification, anti-quick judgment. She made the allegations. He denies them. No evidence has been presented other than he said/she said and quite frankly, in my career as a lawyer, I can tell you that’s worth nothing as far as “the truth” is concerned. Let’s let the process take its course.
