I apologize for the main forum OT post, and feel free to move it.

185 mph winds! I am not sure if this forum has any posters from the Bahamas or not, but the northern Bahamas are getting it incredibly hard

I am in the Jupiter FL area. We are all boarded up, have lots of food, water, booze, batteries, gas for the generator, and now it's a waiting game.

We will know by ~2AM if the turn north is happening when it is supposed to happen, to keep it offshore. We should be >50 miles from the center at its closet path, if computer models hold.

Now we are at >90% probability of TS winds (25-74 mph) and ~35% chance of hurricane strength winds (>75 mph). 50 or even 75 mph wind is a whole different ballgame, obviously, from 185 mph.

So-called "hurricane-proof" things are vulnerable at those speeds. Dorian has the strongest landfall wind speed for an Atlantic hurricane since 1935.

Stay safe, my brother is in Jensen beach.

I'm in Boca Raton, but stopped boarding when path took it to the north and remained out at sea. Will decide with the 5 am update on what to do, but the thing is crawlling at 5 mph. Poor people in the Bahamas. Stay safe @Palm Beach Pats Fan .

both current models have Dorian not making landfall anywhere, but its winds and rains reach about 40 miles from the eye so its furor will be felt all along the southeast coast to some degree.... but, the possibility of a changed direction is still there.

I've spend a lot of time a Max's Grille. Love that place.

I actually have a contract on my house, closing Sept. 30th, so definately staying to protect it. Hopefully weathermen are right for once and it stays out at sea.

I was there last week...the one in Boca....nice place
The whole Mizner Park area is great.

I remember my at-the-time 18mo old barfed all over me in Mizner Park.

Good luck, man.

I'm "north". I live about 20 miles inland from Hilton Head SC and Savannah. We won't know much yet, but we are far enough from water that we should 't need to worry.

We should be praying for those in the Bahamas. This is their worst storm ever, over 185 MPH sustained, and winds over 200. They are having storm surges over 20 feet. Many of the islands have ZERo points higher than 20 feet. The highest point is 35 feet above sea level.

I used to deliver pizzas around there in high school. Hopefully he is in Sewell’s Point and not Rio. If it’s the former, those houses are built to better withstand hurricane speeds.

I’m in Jax Beach. Waiting until tomorrow morning to see if I need to travel westbound and stay with friends. Got the sand bags because, even if it stays off shore and gets down to a 3 by the time it gets up here, my place will still be affected by storm surge. Hope you and your place make it out okay. Stay safe.

Gunner Olszewski is heading down to chase it away from the mainland ...

Stay safe people ...

Stay safe, it’s a beast.

It reminds me of Andrew in a way. Small but powerful. I’ve never seen a hurricane with an absolutely perfect circle of an eye. I’m getting married in January and we had planned a honeymoon in the Bahamas. I think we need to change our plans. Poor people.

Best of luck to everyone!
What a mess.
Wife and I are in Truro, MA, where all is calm (other than the drama over the Great Whites).
@KontradictioN, you are about to experience two major weather events; best of luck.
