Stidham

The kid is promising and I am optimistic about him. But Christ can we pump the breaks. “Second coming”? Seriously?

I'm totally on-board the Stidham train but geessh...tap those breaks a little.

Gentlemen, breaks is spelled B-R-A-K-E-S. Please carry on, thank you.

I’d be shocked if they don’t retain Hoyer for another year. I wish that wasn’t the case because there are players at some spots on the team that I would prefer to keep over a third QB, but I just don’t see Stidham as being ready to keep the ship steady if Brady misses 3-4 games. He’s still very much a blank canvas. They need to work on his mechanics (both the somewhat elongated wind-up and his legs when he’s stepping into a throw) and try to coach the tendency out of him for his eyes to drop and take off when he feels the rush. The second may become less of a problem as he absorbs the playbook more and the first requires at least a year of hands-on coaching. Put another way - I’d see it as more of a gamble on the team’s part that Brady will continue this remarkable run of good health and not need to miss games due to injury if they cut Hoyer.

People on this board really need to brake the tendency of correcting others on spelling and grammar.

Watch BB cut him today

Wouldn't surprise me. Come to think of it nothing does with this team.

They need to get to 53 by 4pm.

There may be a trade and/or another cut Sunday.

And historically speaking, there are always 5-10 moves during the season.

Did anyone notice how much passing the Pats did to start the Giants game? I don’t recall a designed running play in the first 3 series. I wonder if that was to ensure that the Giants would tee off on him, getting him some exposure to an NFL pass rush and giving him a chance to work on some unfamiliar techniques he’s had to try to implement.

I think it mainly was about giving DT, Jules and Gordon some touches.

Stidham looks like a steal. We might trade him for a 1st rounder in 2 years, or maybe only get a high 2nd round pick ala JG.

PS I'm glad we didn't trade for Rosen. At least the Pats can work with a nearly blank slate with stidham and he can sit back and learn from the best in brady now.

I expect Hoyer to stay since he has not yet been cut.

He’s got a long way to go, but he looks better than JG at this stage. You can tell the game is very fast for him and the system is new and unusual, so the reads are hard and slow for him. He runs too much and doesn’t get when to throw true ball away. His passing motion is long. But he made some throws and ran some plays that JG didn’t at this stage.

Can you point out any downside to having good grammar skills?

Wouldn't surprise me.

It would me: they know what they have in Hoyer I think he could run this Offense effectively minus Brady. Stidham not so much imo.

If there is so much of a difference between Hoyer and Stidham that you need to use a roster spot for three QB's, what makes anyone think that someday Jarrett will be a good enough to be an NFL starter?

Brissett had Jimmy G as the backup and Bill didn't think Jacoby was good enough to be his QB.

Bill trusted Jimmy G to backup his rookie year.

I think every NFL starter under 35 was at least a backup his rookie year.

Hoyer is extremely expendable.

Sounds like he answered his own question. Good coaching matters.

I think this is soo important. I think about all the QB's that were "busts" because their coaching was just bad.

Hoyer is a known quantity. Stidham is not.
