Extended Season Soon

How is it wrong to want a week of playoff games instead of a week of preseason games?

You really want to see the Pats endure the attendant injury risk of an additional playoff game?

1) The final proposal may or may not have the top teams playing an extra game.

2) You speak as if no one gets injured in pre-season games.

That is preposterous on its face, you are too good a logician to go all Deus and Andy. You speak as though the players we are counting on to win a playoff game are all the same ones I am watching play in game 4 of the preseason and the 4 month recovery time from an injury in the preseason to the playoffs is equivalent to the week between wildcard and divisional weekends. If you are going to engage please bring your A game

Think of all the partying the NFL would be creating by having SB on Saturday night. Bars would be full.
House parties would be consuming tons of NFL sponsored products like doritos, budweiser and tequila. Uber would be hiring 100,000 temps.
Plus a million people wouldn't be calling in sick on Monday.

Never going to happen.

The NFL gets cities to bend over backwards hosting a Super Bowl. The concept is sold to the cities (and cities to their citizens) based on the idea that it is a huge influx to the local economy.

That means all those people need to stay in the host city for as long as possible - ie, until Sunday night. A Super Bowl on Saturday blows that alleged economic impact out of the water.

In terms of house parties and people consuming advertiser's products - there is so much of that already, would there really be an appreciable increase? I doubt it.

If I am the NFL or any of their business partners (television networks, host city, advertisers, etc.), my first thought would be 'if it is not broken, don't try to fix it'.

Not unlike the current schedule and number of playoff games...

This is entirely about money and has nothing to do with a genuine attempt at improving the game.

Yup. Let's say that the Pats and another AFC team both finish undefeated and the Pats get the #2 seed due to tiebreakers. They have to play on WC weekend, then punch everybody right in the **** through the SB. 16 season wins, 4 postseason wins.

OK, good, because the probability of that happening are so slim that the "window" doesn't really exist. Just wanted to make sure you thought it through.

Excellent. Now my joke has been peer reviewed and is ready for publication.

NFL Vets on "the day after" a game on Monday morning.
Most talk about "shuffling" their feet as opposed to walking. My body doesn't feel "whole" some say. Lots of "numbness" & brutal pain ...

NFL: Play Thursday, Monday & overseas

I wish they would get rid of Monday night. Sunday & Sunday night except for playoffs imo. I love the Sat/Sun games in Jan.

In each 16 team conference a team only has to beat out 3 other teams to be titled division champions. If that team happens to play in a dogsh!t division then they get a free ride to the playoffs and most likely the first round bye. At least with two teams getting a bye there's a chance that a deserving team will get one. I'm $ure the NYFL will do what'$ be$t for the player$ and the fan$.

Goodell is relentless is his desire to ruin a good thing.

Pats won the Super Bowl with the 2 seed and a BYE. Now they want to make the 2 seed play another game? I'm not surprised. F the NYFL

Speaking of small windows. 28-3.

Watching teams that shouldn’t make the playoffs in the playoffs sucks.

Just make it year round with a week off, then the owners can start their push for two games a week.
