OT: Why Didn't Chad Ochocinco/Johnson Work Out Here??

Without the Denver game, he had virtually nothing to show for ever having existed here.
I was supposed to fly to Denver for that game. Then the (then current) ex I was supposed to meet there "unexpectedly" stumbled into a new boyfriend about 5 days before.:(

That sucks dude. I’m sorry.

That sucks dude. I’m sorry.

Amen to that.

People suck, and I'm about THIS close to going on a rant about how modern-day dating is miserable, social media has had a toxic impact on how we communicate, people don't value honesty, transparency, and vulnerability, etc., and I'm losing faith in humans to engage/interact in a genuine, meaningful way (and I say all this as a 24-year-old millennial).

But I'll bite my tongue ... ha.

Sorry that happened to you, Jlaff. It's awful, it sucks, and it cuts deep every time it happens.

Given that we're ~8'ish years removed from then, I hope you're doing better now <3

Chad Johnson was 33 when he came to the Patriots.

Even Randy Moss 1.0 couldn't hack it as a Patriot when he was 33.

Yeah, even Deon Branch, was completely cooked in this system at 33. And yes Jules is now 33...

He was old and washed up more than anything.

I don’t know why Bill kept playing him. Had very few highlights.

Chad 85 was done. He had been declining since 2008. He didn't even make the first round of cuts with a bad Miami team in 2012.

Also, his was not the only example of a high profile WR tanking here. We've seen the same out of Galloway, Holt, Wayne, Decker...Moss is the ultimate outlier here.

My theory: We could have acquired 30 year old Jerry Rice, 30 year old Terrell Owens, 30 year old Larry Fitzgerald, and 30 year old Calvin Johnson over the years and two of them wouldn't have been able to fully grasp the Pats offense. You can't know until they get here, and that's why Belichick shies away from making the giant swings at the position.
Fitz & Sticky Rice = HOFers

Stinko & To = Garbage

He was old and washed up more than anything.
Old...washed-up...willfully ignorant...diva...unwilling to take hard coaching...dumber than a Box O Rocks (rip)...Everything I don't want in a WR, and Nothing I do want in one...

Other than that...

And Bill's foolish throwing-away of those 3 picks for him & Fat Albert (derided by many at the time, including me) cost us - among others - WR Marvin Jones, the anti-Stinko.

Thanks guys, and just to be clear (as I think it may have been unclear in my post) she was already an ex at the time and we had planned to just have a visit together around the Pats game in Denver.

I was mainly disappointed over missing the game. Although maybe I should have been more disappointed about missing the date with her as she was the "heiress" to $100's of millions. But oh well, just have to continue grinding it out like everyone else.

I never expected him to be "Moss 2.0" or even a pro-bowler....

But I expected something in the neighborhood of 55-65 catches, 700-750 yards, and 3-4 TD's...IOW a solid #2 outside receiver.

After week 1 in Miami where Welker caught a 90 yard pass and Bruschi was ripping Ocho Cinco for being a cheerleader on the sideline...I knew it was a bad signing.....

As for WHY....not sure....guessing the offense was too complicated for him to pick up or something...

While agree with you overall to be fair he put the nail in his own coffin by head butting his girlfriend and getting arrested. That was after he already pissed Philbin off for swearing repeatedly in a press conference.
