Well you can’t accuse me now of pushing the media narrative.

Brady gave an interview today reiterating he wants to play to 45. Why would he do that a week aftwr signing a 1 year contract and saying we’ll what happens in March next year. He’s not that stupid. Clearly he wants to get things moving again and firm up forward years and the sooner the better.

He could have not mentioned this or kept quiet on it. He very carefully chooses what he’s saying in interview.

This is the first time Brady has had to sign a piece of paper that is tangible evidence that he won't be the Pats' QB forever. He had to sign the document. Remember when his Dad was asked about his eventual retirement, and said, "It will be ugly." I interpreted that as being about his competitiveness not allowing his mind to register the slip in performance, and being angry about how it was all unfolding around him.

And also, this is the first contract that acknowledges that the Pats are actively preparing for that day in the not-too-distant future.

So, this is all probably tough on the guy. I've no idea what it is like to be that competitive, but this process must create a lot of anxious energy for him. He's not a Buddhist.

I hope it isn't ugly, as his Dad predicted, but there's no doubt it will be interesting. And at any given point, we'll be lucky to have 20% of the relevant information.

From Curran’s report a few days ago the Brady camp were looking for a multi-year deal, and Curran is pretty connected to Pats players. If Brady was fine going year to year why did he put in his no franchise tag clause which allows him to hit free agency?

The logical conclusion is Brady wanted multiple years but the Pats are the ones who want to take it year by year. If he plays well this year he can take multi year offers from other teams and come back to the Pats and say match the years. It’s then in Bill and Bob’s court. Hopefully it never comes to that and he resigns before free agency, but being a free agent is his leverage.

You're right. He doesn't need any money. Except the $5m in incentives he renegotiated last year to his contract. And except the $8m bump he renegotiated to his salary to $23m this year. Besides that he doesn't need any money.

That's a bit harsh. I don't give one shyte about how Biffins feels about Brady's contract but I care that Brady feels satisfied that it was worked out for all involved and he can freely focus on playing football.

That's an insane attitude. The whole crux of my argument is that Brady is not happy and this could potentially lead to dissatisfaction and us losing him.

I remember Adam Vinateiri never let the Pats make an offer when he left as he felt so aggrieved at that point.

How can Brady's satisfaction with the contract not a pertinent issue? Brady could have a great year and could still leave us if he's that unhappy about how this was handled. Or might not be willing to take a hometown discount next year if he feels aggrieved.
