Bill Belichick, by almost every every measure, is the greatest Head Coach of all time.

When discussing this with my son, we observed an amazing statistic that neither one of us had considered:

There are 32 current Head Coaches in the NFL.

Bill Belichick has 6 times as many Super Bowl Wins as any other current Head Coach.

Furthermore, he has as many Super Bowl Wins as all of the others combined!

Belichick in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016, & 2018

Gruden in 2002

Tomlin in 2008

Payton in 2009

Harbaugh in 2012

Carroll in 2013

Pederson in 2017

When it comes to achieving greatness and doing it again and again, Bill simply has no equal in the modern game. And he's not done yet!! :)

He runs the entire operation too. He's more like a CEO than a coach.

God bless Brady, but had it been Brees, or Manning, or Rodgers + Belichick, the Pats would still have rings. I don't think you can say the same had it been Brady + Dungy, or Coughlin, or Carroll...

Could have sworn Coach Belichick has been involved in Eight Super Bowl victories...

Boooooooooooo

Congratulations for expressing yet another version of the unprovable argument.

What's next?

Chicken egg soliloquy?

Possible "Does my ass look fat in these pants" responses?

Can't wait.

Trying to think what "measure he falls short of?? He makes mistakes, but when humans are directing humans stuff happens..

I would argue that BB is the greatest coach of all time, not just of modern times.. to have done what he has done in the post salary cap days of the NFL can never be equaled.. by every statistical measure he is way above any competitor..

Coaches like Shula had more wins, but more years to do that in.. 33 yrs 328 wins.
Halas 40 years 318 wins
BB 24 years 261 wins

While the media and sportstalk in general try to denigrate or minimize his accomplishments, when it is all said and done he will be considered the best of all time.

The only real questionable decision BB made was the Butler benching. But in time that decision may look less worse if new information comes out. BB has more info at hand than us fans. There's no way BB intenionally sabotaged the team. Media have spread that dumb idea before.

I know some killed him for the 4th and 2 in Indy. But I agreed with it. Manning was going up and down the field at will. Even if you punt, there's a 95 percent chance Manning goes down the field and scores a TD to win the game. BB trusted his offense more than his defense. And it nearly paid off. Faulk was inches away from making the 1st down.

I agree with the non timeout in SB 49. He felt that Seattle was a bit confused. Calling a timeout would've helped them. He went with his gut instinct. And it paid off. I still would've agreed with the decision had Seattle scored a TD and won. Sometimes you have to go with your gut instinct.

I'm 50/50 on the decision to go for it on 4th and 13 in SB 42. On one hand, the percentages say to punt or try a long fg. Especially against that defense. Odds of making it weren't great. On the other hand, BB felt that the worst case scenario was they don't make it, and the Giants get decent field position against a defense that had played well to that point. He trusted his defense. I'm leaning towards this being an acceptable decision.

I do think BB & TB make one another better. Do I think BB & Rodgers win 2 or 3 SB's together? Yes. 6? No way. Do I think TB & Payton win 2 or 3 SB's together? Yes. 6? No way.

Actually my friend Faulk did make the First Down on the 4th and 2 ,,,I watched that play a million times,,,problem was we were out of timeouts which meant BB couldn't Challenge the Spot !!! It was a clear First Down,,,even Kevin showed his frustration on the Field.

I'm giving you an "agree" so you know I mean this in good nature: But are there any other traumatic moments you'd like to resurface right now? Jesus...

Malcolm didn't help the situation by not being ready to play.

The SB 49 non-timeout was a brain fart by BB, one of his only major in-game Brain farts. He just got bailed out.

BB explained his reasoning why he didn't call the TO in DYJ. I don't think he was BS'ing for posterity's sake

Well, benching a dressed and ready Butler in SB 52 comes to mind........I still want an explanation for that. If you weren’t going to play him, don’t dress him. They could’ve used Alan Branch to help stop Blount (whom BB deemed not even worth $1.1 million the prior offseason) from putting up 90 yards that game.

Trees was so much wrong with that decision in such an important game. Think. Right now on August 12, 2019, the football world would be debating whether the Patriots could pull off their FOURTH straight Lombardi this year......

Yeah? Why did he dress him for the game? Butler was practicing drills with the first team defense on the field before the game. Rowe wasn’t told anything about replacing him until 5 minutes to kickoff. You are basing your reasoning on a belief that “something will come out in the future”. BB simply had a sudden hissy fit. The explanations that leaked out about a bad week of practice don’t match up with the objective fact time sequence before the game.

BB has won far more games for this franchise that is historically fortunate to have had him than he has lost. But make no mistake, he took this one away.

It’s a discussion board, not a timed SAT test :)

Well then BB was “not ready to coach” if he chose him to be dressed and active game day roster while sending Alan Branch to the Mall of America food court while the RB BB deeemed not worth $1.1 million ran 90 yards hat SB right up the guy on the Pats......

Not ready to coach. Please. Your bitterness is shining though but if you want to relive that ****ty week...

Facts:

Branch hadn't played since early Dec. He was done and a liability vs the run.

Rowe had been lining up opposite Gilly all week.

Of those, how many would have benched a first pick, $100M QB for a 6th round pick.
