Garoppolo closed the gap on Mallett within two preseason starts (after a rocky training camp too). I’ll be interested to see if they give Stidham an opportunity to win the backup job as some reporters have stated he’s been the more impressive quarterback. They haven’t shied away from rookie backups in the past (2009 Hoyer, 2014 Garoppolo) and releasing Hoyer would save 1.5 million in cap space.

Stidham & Meyers will be the ones to watch for myself tomorrow.

Berrios will get plenty opportunity in the Preseason Games: If he has a strong showing I am sure most will change their tune. I wouldn't risk him making the PS if he shows up Slot WR in his mold traditionally do well here. Here's hoping Berrios becomes a problem a good one for the Patriots to have.

Auburn’s offensive line last year was weak and Stidham definitely had happy feet all season long. Outside of Davis, he has next to nothing to throw to.

When he is confident, his play elevates, but when he gets rattled, and he gets rattled easily, his play declines.

Agreed. When things are going great, he is fantastic (e.g., his performance in the upset of Alabama in 2017). However, when things are going badly, he seems to completely lose confidence, get rattled, and he craters. I interpreted that as a lack of mental toughness, and that is why I was so certain the Patriots wouldn't draft him

Well, I would love to be proven wrong, and so far he looks pretty good for the Pats. In 2018 the Auburn expectations were initially sky high, and the fans were a bit brutal on him when they lost a few games they were expected to easily win. Maybe he can have time to mature and develop confidence with the Pats with tutoring from Brady, it certainly seemed to work with Garappolo.
