DMC- 5-10 195JJ is probably too small for most Free Safety roles, never mind any Strong Safety roles.
JJ- 5-10 190

I’m referring more to the jag level players like was being discussed here. Inman is a name everyone knows and Harris was a name everyone didn’t. There is no question that fans call for the name they recognize but I think Belichick is more apt to sign the name you don’t recognize and be more successful with them.
In other words it seems that Belichick relies more on film than reputation and that seems to be the right approach.
I don't get it.
We finally have one of the top set of 3 safeties in the NFL , plus we now have a top Ster in Brooks who can actually play safety. I haven't a clue why anyone would want to reduce the quality of the 2019 defense by trading a safety. And yes, I'm fine with keeping ObiWan as a Ster and backup db; this would happen if Ebner is going.
Also, in our passing league, it is OK to keep 6 CB's including a developmental player with potential (Williams). Why would we trade J Jones to keep Crossen or Dawson? J Jones is a top Ster. It would be better to extend him.
Hes doing well actuallyEach day that goes by, I’m waiting for the update that Derek Rivers is a beast. Why haven’t we heard anything about him?
Good. He’s my guy.Hes doing well actually
Burkhead is a genuine contributor and comes with a $3 million cap hit. He'll make the 53. He's not on PUP or NFI, so his return to full action can be any time that works for him and the team.
AFCC winning TD:
Hes in his walk year. Unless they restructure his deal by guaranteeing $ in 2019 and incur a dead cap charge in 2020 they can't do anything.
So an extension is creative accounting? Thought you implied something different. That's what I meant when I said he might sign a surprise extension.

OK RW- did Obi steal your lunch at school back in the day or what? I thank you for your info on Harmon's snaps, but I can't help but wonder why you are so willing to completely disregard Obi's potential contribution. He's worked with the regular D and with Harmon on the 2nd unit and in my 2 days of watching, nothing he's done in those 2 days makes me think he's out of place. So what's up?Chung just got a revised deal. If cut its a $7.5 cap hit. Hes staying.
If they take out DMC they save $9.5m. Last year of his deal. I do find that situation curious.
I think Nate will have a tough time sticking around.
They don't have a replacement for Harmon
JJ is a steal at $3m. Could be trade bait. Who knows.
No but my gut tells me DMC doesnt want to take a pay cut.Nah, I wasn't referring to DMac when saying creative accounting. My point was that even if he'd take a pay cut it would at best save maybe 3-4M. Which is a sum you can scrape together by working some other contracts.
We are not talking crazy money here.
Jones looks like he'd be a possible trade candidate because he is getting some money this year.....but for 3 things. He's having a very strong camp. He's our best slot corner and we play in an era when teams are in nickel around 60% of the time. It's really as starting position at this point. And finally any trip we make to the playoffs is likely to include playing KC twice. Jones is the best match we have vs Hill. Not only that, he's had success against himJones will be gone next offseason. He will get a pretty big contract (10M+) on the open market like some of the other slot CBs in the last 1-2 years.
Players like him are goners.
You misunderstand me.OK RW- did Obi steal your lunch at school back in the day or what? Why purposely make yourself weaker at this point?Jones looks like he'd be a possible trade candidate because he is getting some money this year.....but for 3 things. He's having a very strong camp. So I really don't think Jones is a likely trade candidate. Too important
