Happy 4th. America is the greatest country in the world, despite the propaganda on tv/ in the papers

“No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.”

Happy Independence Day! America is the greatest country in the world. God Bless America!!!!

Please don't drive today if you're drinking - take an Uber or walk if you can.

Go Pats

To me the 4th isn't a celebration of a land mass called America. It is a celebration for freedom loving people everywhere and a remembrance of all those who oppose tyranny, in all its devious forms.

Technically (and correctly) you slackers are all celebrating "Independence" Day two days late. July 4th would more correctly be called "Declaration of Independence" Day.

"July 2, 1776 is the day that the Continental Congress actually voted for independence. John Adams, in his writings, even noted that July 2 would be remembered in the annals of American history and would be marked with fireworks and celebrations. The written Declaration of Independence was dated July 4 but wasn't actually signed until August 2. Fifty-six delegates eventually signed the document, although all were not present on that day in August."

Did You Know... Independence Day Should Actually Be July 2?

Happy 4th of July! Since we grilled yesterday, we are ordering pizza for dinner tonight and watching the mini-series Sons of Liberty (even though it is historically inaccurate)!

You'd be surprised how many Founders really believed in real freedom. Jefferson was pissed that he had to edit out the language condemning slavery from the original Declaration. And a lot of their wives, along with ordinary, unheralded women, made huge sacrifices for and contributions to our cause.

A lot of Americans shared their idealism. A whole lot didn't, and still don't today.

We have very few leaders in our government today, who have the kind of brilliance, thoughtfulness, empathy, compassion and determination of guys like Franklin etc.

Our country today is overrun with those who think that freedom means being able to abuse, torture and murder innocent, vulnerable children, women and men indiscriminately, for no valid reason, with total impunity, in the name of false safety, false democracy, and false patriotism for the sake of avarice, sadism and racism.

Baby steps.

The difference between a traitor and a patriot is often determined by the end result of the insurrection.
Harriet Tubman, for example, was technically, legally a big time criminal.

In fact, she's a Patriot and one of the greatest heroes in world history.
