Texans fire GM. Could impact Patriots

Make Nick the GM but Coexist decisions with Belichick.

Doesn’t matter, if they offer full control it becomes Caserio’s decision to make. That said I believe he will reject any offer to leave NE. Belichick has been grooming him to take over for years, and I don’t believe Caserio will turn his back on that.

Friend of mine who works in the texans org is confident Caserio will be their GM by Friday. We'll see if it happens but I think he is gone.

That would be surprising.
First off Patriots have to allow the interview
Second he has to accept the interview
Third he would have to believe working there is more fruitful then being here and leaving his friend Josh.
I don't know what kind of relationship he has with Bill but If Nick takes that job and Bill had a bad season I could see Bill getting the axe and Josh being hired as HC.
PS I hope your friend is wrong.
That or Patriots are confident about promoting Monty.
And maybe bringing back Pioli as a assistant or advisor.

Thing that worries me is the timing. Not common to fire a GM a month before training camp opens. Maybe I’m overthinking it but feels like Houston has knowledge of Caserio’s interest and confidence of him accepting their offer to make the change and fire their now former GM.
That would be surprising.

Come again?

Consensus is ideal...but...someOne has to turn in the card...and here, that's Bill...Nick might be tiring of waiting for the Nick/Josh Show to begin.

Why walk away from the empire you built to join a up and comer.
I always got the idea that BB and NC have a very good relationship and they both work great together.
I can't see him walking away from that unless the money is stupid and we aren't touching it.
If he leaves I expect to see him be the highest paid GM in the NFL.

NE could go 4-12 for 3 years in a row and Bill would not get canned. Might retire, but not get canned.

Big question is whether Nick even wants that job. Billy O'Brien's job status is not solid by any stretch of the imagination.. If O'Brien gets canned in a year or two, Nick most likely goes also. Most new transitions want their own people. He may like the Security he has here. Maybe throw him a little more money if the titles do not matter to him

This is the process agreed to in negotiations.

Agreed. Give me a break, Texans. Frankly, asking permission to poach someone else's coach or executive should not be allowed after the draft each year.

Exactly. You have the widow and the son running things now but if I'm Nick- at a minimum I want what the new NYJ GM received which is 6 yrs @ $3m per.

With that said his wife is a MA girl who was a Kraft Group marketing exec and they have two small children.

Sometimes the roots grow deep.

Very useful info

Yes, HANDS OFF!!!! Enough is enough....develop your own front office/coaching trees.....

Put down the crack pipe, my friend.

How would they know this? They can't talk to him without permission. Tampering doesn't just apply to players.
