bspn's John Parry(SB ref)says PI would haven been called on Pats if reviewed, one problem with that

”Legion of Boom” admitted to being very aggressive every play because they knew the refs wouldn’t call holding, PI’s on every play.

There was a pretty blatant pass interference by Richard Sherman (video below) on Julio Jones a couple of years ago, pretty much costing Atlanta the game. Living in Atlanta, I can tell you that Falcon fans cry and bellyache with the best of them and they were livid about the no-call, which is similar but more blatant than the one by Gilmore. Yet with all their whining about the play, no one called for changing the rules or making pass interference reviewable. Even the crybaby Falcon fans didn't want to open that can of worms.

In my fantasy world I wish there was replay in '76 vs Oakland as the Patriots would have gone to the SB and been champs. Russ Francis' arms held back by Villipiano (would have needed PI replay). RTP on Sugar Bear (would need penalty replay).

And no replay means no 2001 SB.

I'll take reality. But I'll keep replay.
Yep, I definitely like anything that benefits the Pats. But going forward I’d sign for getting rid of it.

That was the NE 2001-2004 defense, especially 2001-2003.

I think he's right that they should limit it to real time speed for the PIs.
This, 1000 times this. I have been saying this for a good while. I am not a fan of slo-mo replays.

Thank god Julio's getting paid less than Brandin Cooks. @luuked would have been all over Julio!

What took so long?

Nice one @JMC00 You're doing BSPN's job for them. Stop taking the cheese!

Of course nobody is mentioning the missed DPI on robey-coleman. That's not the point of what they're doing! How many times does it have to be repeated until people learn? Wouldn't be making BB's team that's for sure. BB doesn't like error repeaters according to Bruschi.

If you can't handle watching BSPN without needing to share or vent to someone(thus doing their job for them) then don't watch BSPN. For **** sakes it's not rocket science man! Use your brain!

Cousins. Moot point to Mr. Parry.
The biggest part of this! If Colemen P.I. was called in N.O., this Superbowl play play would have never happened. We would have played the Saints.

Thank you for playing though Mr. Parry.....Johnny Pardo, what are his parting gifts?

What about that pick play in the 4th quarter of the Kansas City game? The one where Bill broke his Surface tablet he was so pissed.

edited to add the thread That illegal pick play though

Sorry, but I think that's a perfectly legal pick.

WRs are allowed to block 1 yard beyond the LOS. You want to argue it was closer to 2 or 3 yards? Ok. But, whenever a DB is on the line of scrimmage & gets picked by an adjacent WR right after the snap, the refs let it pass. That's exactly what happened here.

Don't believe me? Compare it to this little gem from NE @ NO in 2017 below (go to 2:12). Same play, the pick was a little over 1 yard too. The refs converged to discuss the call and the TD stood; as it should've.

the pick is @ 2:12:

Edit: Also, I do recognize the KC pick was further down the field, but when I look at it on GamePass, I also see JC Jackson really turning and running into that pick too. Just another reason.

I do want to argue that because it was 2-3 yards and continued well past that.

I don't believe you because the comparable you used was legal and a flag was thrown. The fact that a ref incorrectly threw a flag on a legal play shouldn't lead you to conclude that the refs just let it pass if it's close.

Also you're incorrectly saying the legal play was past one yard, which it clearly isn't.

Find a real comparable.

Hi. I just answered all this in the appropriate thread:

We watching the same clip. The DB gets knocked on his ass a full 5 yds down the field. But here's what I don't get about your reasoning. You say what Gilmore did was a foul even though it was a slight arm tug that is usually not called. And you follow up defending the pick in KC by saying sure it was a "technical foul" because it happened onlyeabout 4 yds down field and they rarely call that.

Aren't you saying the same thing but with different endings here. You can "get away with it here" but not there".

And that's exactly why this replay rule could be the end of the game as we know it. EVERY pass play in the final 2 minutes is going to be examined and adjudicated to the point where defenses will no longer be able to reasonably function any longer.

As to the OP. Yes, Gilmore COULD have be called for his arm tug, if they wanted to follow the letter of the rule. But by the same token, you can probably find a dozen plays where Gronk was held, Edelman was hit past 5 yds, etc.

In fact while answering another post I happened to rewatch his final catch in the Superbowl and its almost funny that his arm gets tugged all most EXACTLY the same way Cooks arm was. The only difference was that Gronk powered out of the tug, and made the catch. Neither play drew a flag. I wonder what Parry would say if he saw some of the other plays.

Maybe someone more talented than I could make a tape of some of more egregious fouls that when against the Pats to BSPN or one of the local stations or BSJ, just to show that not every call goes in the Pats way.

That is exactly why this will be a disaster.

Cry on command football.

It likely won't be primarily because they aren't giving teams extra challenges.

Do you have an eyesight problem ? Or hit your head hard and might have a concussion ?

Because those plays are not even remotely close to be the same.

One was a perfectly arcing pass right into Cooks landing in his chest, the other almost a prayer high up into the air. Cooks had both hands to clutch the ball because Gilmore had released his arm in time while Jones was wrestled to the ground by Sherman pulling his other arm down.

I don't get your obsession with Cooks. But this comparison is laughable.

Don't you mean your obsession with hating on Cooks. ;)
