Many of the players coming from the south. I’d highly recommend going to either an SEC or Big 10 game. The atmosphere at those games is superior to any professional game. It’s actually not even remotely close.

I've actually been to the Harvard-Yale game (you know, The Game) and it was a lot of fun. Mostly, though, I think, because they seemed to treat it as a kind of lark as well as a game. The Harvard band played Ten Thousand Men of Harvard but they were all wearing berets, dark glasses and other kinds of jazz musician gear. The Yale marching band had a cello!

I don't think any non-American could get their head around a game where everyone is dressed up like the Munchkins' parade and taking it seriously.

I'll be going to the opening game with my wife. We only go once a year and we chose this one because we didn't want to miss the Super Bowl banner reveal. Good rivalry game against the Steelers too. I think there will be a lot of energy and it will be a fun game.

Never. It’s pretty much an unfair comparison. The ties to college teams run much deeper than ties to pro teams. Especially in the Southeast.

Alabama/Auburn, Alabama/LSU in Death Valley, Florida/Georgia (World’s Largest Outdoor ****tail Party), Georgia/Auburn, Alabama/Texas A&M. Not necessarily in order. Alabama vs. Auburn and Florida vs. Georgia are both very deep rivalries. Hate fests.

You missed my point. I said the product for a reason. The actual football is so damn good here no amount of atmosphere can make up for it.

I actually do have plans to catch my first College game this year. A Buddy of mine is a big Michigan fan so we'll catch a game before the Ravens game. Michigan at MD.

The most comparable atmosphere to college ball in the Southeast and the Big 10 is a soccer game in Europe. There is absolutely no pro football game whatsoever that compares. It’s a landslide. The tailgating, the crowd, the experience... college ball (particularly in those two conferences) ****s all over a pro game. A regular season game between LSU and Auburn, for example, is going to be magnitudes more rowdy than any playoff game at Gillette you’re going to go to. Same thing with Penn State and Ohio State. Hell, go watch videos of the stadium shaking prior to a South Carolina kickoff when they play “Sandstorm.” You never see that kind of rowdiness in a pro game. The attendees just aren’t passionate enough about the teams as they are at the college level. Just the truth and the reason nobody else that’s been to both is disagreeing with me. Yeah, the product is better but the actual experience is nowhere near as fun.

And you’ll have a blast. It’s not a heated rivalry but the atmosphere will still be great. I’d recommend an SEC game after that. Top venues are LSU, Texas A&M, Florida, and Georgia.

Nothing is like the those stadiums such as the swamp in terms of noise, rowdiness for a big game and play to play intensity. UF had the largest student section at one point and it was able to surpass LSU and any other environment, not to mention the closed in nature is conducive to that.

The Pats opener will be a different kind of emotional event I’m sure, probably the best ever. No one moment in terms of noise, elation, etc within a stadium will compare to that FG block to save the 06 Season or a few other similar moments in UF History.

The Pats banner ceremony is a culmination of joyous emotion over the course of many years for me, so I can’t imagine anything topping that going forward as far as physically being there.

There is no comparison. I go to Tuscaloosa every other year for a game and have been to Gillette many times. It's completely different. I've been to the Big House for Michigan Ohio State and a home game at 'Bama trumps them all.
A home game at Alabama is unlike anything I've ever experienced in terms of sporting events. The only thing better is the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona Spain, which I do every July.
SEC football is in a league of its own in terms of football.
