Everyone Seems VERY Happy With This Draft So Far

Perhaps someone other than Edelman can return punts this year, at least some of the time.

Hope you are right, but if he'd done that as Patriot, he'd never be put in that role again. His job is to safely get the ball out to the 15 yard line in that case, not take a risk of putting the team on the 2 (which is what would have happened against an NFL punt coverage team).

I think this was, on paper, one of the best drafts of the BB era. Lots of terrific picks and really no head-scratchers. Even drafting the punter...well, ok, maybe that one. But otherwise, just a series of excellent moves. And they are loaded for the 2020 draft as well.
BB must have a good reason on the Punter... I mean I was like WTF?

If the punter is elite, I like the pick. Seems like you could run a fake with him as well. ****son got drafted in the 5th round last year by SEA and he helped them win some games.

I don't know why we are so eager to get rid of Burkhead. When healthy he is the most versatile of the backs and performs well in the big games.
Although versatile, he’s slow.

NY Post giving us an A+, one of three teams so designated:
Analysis: A fiercely competitive and dependable 6-2, 228-pound target for Tom Brady (Harry), a big, smart cornerback (Joejuan Williams), a relentless, long-haired blond Mike Vrabel (LB Chase Winovitch) … and a potential heir apparent QB of the future (Stidham). Bill Belichick drafts best available Patriot.

Quite happy is still ok ? :)

Im not thrilled with this draft.

No TE. Just watch some of these drafted TEs be studs. NE just needed a good young TE and not a HOFer.

RB was not a need. At times last season, Josh McDonalds did not use the RB he already had on the committee. A luxury pick too high just because BB wanted to do a solid for his pal Nick Saban. This has to stop.

Deep threat WR was a need. You have Dorsett who is the guy at work that you havent seen all day and its 5 o'clock and Gordon who is rumored to be making his 4th comeback after he misses at least 6 games. NKH is a size 16 shoe plodder and wont stretch the field.

Yodney Cajole is an injury waiting to happen. May as well name him IR right now.

Stickman was a wasted pick too. You still have to carry Hoyer as insurance QB. Just Stickman is like having nobody. Edelman will be back there throwing the ball and catching it.

And another thing, Isiah Wynn is likely another bust. Why all the OL?

New England Patriots
Draft picks:
Arizona State WR N'Keal Harry (No. 32 overall); Vanderbilt CB Joejuan Williams (No. 45); Michigan DE Chase Winovich (No. 77); Alabama RB Damien Harris (No. 87); West Virginia OT Yodny Cajuste (No. 101); Arkansas OG Hjalte Froholdt (No. 118); Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham (No. 133); Maryland DE Byron Cowart (No. 159); Stanford P Jake Bailey (No. 163); Mississippi CB Ken Webster(No. 252)
Day 1 grade: A
Day 2 grade: A-
Day 3 grade: A-
Overall grade: A
Draft analysis: When Rob Gronkowski had to move outside in the playoffs this past season, it was pretty clear that New England needed a reliable big receiver to win downfield. Harry should meet that need quite well.

The Patriots' interest in Williams was not a well-kept secret -- he had the versatility they needed in the secondary. Giving up a third-round pick to go get him was not a Belichickian-type move, but if they had a first-round grade on him, I won't blame them for making the deal. They found a steal in Winovich in the third round. He's the type of high-motor, versatile lineman who will be a factor early on. Harris is an all-around talent who was worthy of a selection 20 picks earlier than his drafting spot. Cajuste has injury issues and doesn't have the greatest feet, but he could work his way into starting at right tackle.

Froholdt is an athletic and tough-minded Dane who fits the Patriots' Way. Bill Belichick hopes that he can work Stidham into another strong-armed pocket passer; choosing him was a solid value in the fourth round. Cowart and Webster add depth to the defense. Ryan Allen had the 19th-ranked net punting average in the league last year, so his days are numbered with Bailey in the fold.

2019 NFL Draft: Final quick-snap grades for all 32 teams

Grading a punter with punting average seems useless to me. Ryan is an excellent punter and I'd put him in the top 5 range although having Slater pinning punts on the one yard helps.

I'd say Ryan's departure would more about contract than performance.

Meh, you hate everybody, all the time.

Honestly not getting the love for Berrios, but I admit, I haven't seen his game at all. He was drafted 210 and already lost a year. Is he really going to make a team that has:

Edelman (lock), Harry (lock), Dorsett, Ellington, Harris, Meyers, Patterson, Ubosi and Davis...along with Gordon and Thomas?

What are the chances on that?
If either Gordon or Thomas can play, what are Berrios' chances?

The Pats went BIG on WR with Gordon, Thomas, Harry, Meyers, and Ubosi - could Berrios slip in as the pain-in-the-butt mighty mini?

What is Stidham? The 6th guy anointed by the media as the "heir apparent"...? I doubt he will be the last....

Agreed. I think we will only carry 4 WRs and Slater. Chances of Berrios making the roster SLIM

The team was ready to invest heavily into Humphries which kinda suggests that the role of a dedicated slot guy that can give Edelman a break from consistent punishment that comes from the MOF is still something that could be on the menu.

And while Berrios "lost" a year he might look a lot better now after being a year in the strength and conditioning program. If he improved his leg strength a bit and it translates to sharper / quicker cuts he has an outside shot of maybe earning that Amendola role.

He'd need a ridiculous camp and odds are he lands on the PS again but stranger things have happened. However unlikely there is a path for him.

You can't expect credibility here if you're going to say that BB drafted Harris "to do a solid for his pal Nick Saban." You draft a guy with the last pick of the 7th round if you're gonna do that, but even then, not. You do NOT draft a guy in the 3rd round that you don't think is a good move for you, in order to do a favor to that kid's college coach.

Come on now.

I am thrilled with this draft for the most part. I just wish our TE position had been addressed, other than that I have no complaints !

I always like to watch/compare how college teammates that play the same position fare in the NFL. Last year it was Michel vs. Chubb and now it’s Harris vs. Jacobs and Winovich vs. Gary.

This is impressively braindead.
