Everyone Seems VERY Happy With This Draft So Far

We lost out on Fant, Smith, Knox, Warring, and Sternberger. I am most pi$$ed about losing Sternberger to Houston one pick ahead of us. But we ended up with Winovich so it worked out.
Didn’t we trade down just before sternberger.
Tells me we didn’t want him.
Tells me, as expected, instead of trying to recreate the past by jamming a square peg into a round hole, our offense evolves and puts less emphasis on the TE position.
Trying to fill gronks role is a mistake. No one can. You have to change the role and adapt. That’s exactly what our scheme is about.

We now have more big WRs on the roster than we have had in ten years combined. We aren’t chasing the past we are moving forward.

Ugh. I’m still not over SB 52.

I honestly think we'll get our shot against the Eagles again in the Super Bowl. They are absolutely stacked on both sides of the ball, as are the Pats.

I am not really happy with it....yet. There is a lot of glitz in the draft so far, but I hate to see BB / Josh take a first round WR; they have a terrible track record with high-round WRs. BB just cannot bring himself to draft a WR who is not a Boy Scout, but great WRs do not come in that favor. And who knows what Josh was thinking with his bad picks at Denver.

I have other question marks. Cajuste was wearing two knee braces in a picture I saw of him and holding a DE. I love Joejuan, but is he fast enough? Winovich has the right attitude, but he does not look that strong.

We're ****ing doomed!

Ha. Just said the same thing. His ability in run support and coverage inside inside the hashes should not be undervalued. It's plus -plus.

BB recently stated publicly the need for big corners.

Nobody can have too many good secondary players. While everyone chases pass rushers.....nobody noticed recent SB champions are secondary based.

Go look at the Tavon Wilson threads from 2012. BB has been looking for versatile "jack of all trade" type players because it's going to five skill guys vs seven or eight defenders in space.

I included Thomas. I am assuming Burkhead will get released. It'll save the team $3 million I think.
Re: Thomas....reading issue.

Re: Burk...Might be right

So the question I have this morning is, why Joejuan Williams over Greedy Williams? Both are big corners, but Greedy was rated higher...

They dont have a terrible record with high round WR. They never took one before #36 in 19 years of BB and Dobson was the only non day 3 pick for almost a decade.

Say that almost none of the WR picked worked out all you want — because thats undeniably true — but this is the first time in a very long time that they are trying to address this using actually valuable resources. It is not a coincidence that they invested so early just as Gronk stepped aside.

Nobody is suggesting that the Pats have to find the next Gronk.

Film junkie, more versatile, elite quickness and apparently also perfect culture fit.

I am on board with all the picks except Cajuste...he has been injury prone (knees) and gets overpowered often....I think BB should have gone earlier for OL as priority...I think we missed out on several other awesome potential players but like you say....they didn’t meet BB or other coaches qualifications....

I think Harris moves ahead of burkhead.
He is the ideal piece to back up both Michel and white.
Bb had always preferred when possible to have a backup to rb1 to get a drive per half or so. Harris can also back up or take some snaps from white as passing game back bringing a better runner into the mix.
It’s really what burkheads role was but Harris will be a huge improvement.
If Harris has rookieitis burkhead can stay in that role.
Yep. Harris> Burk. After watching more of him no question he's an upgrade.

This might be it for Burk

This might be it...Greedy sounded pretty arrogant last night about how he and Denzel Ward are going to tear up the league and that the Browns are going to the SB. Does not sound like a PTP.

Burkhead still is versatile, plays special teams etc. no reason we wouldn’t keep 4 real RBs.

Freddy

Watch any college football game and virtually all the OL wear knee braces on both legs for protection.

Greedy doesn’t prefer “tackling” on his plate...

Not sure if you are debating or agreeing?

To be honest I do not think BB or anyone of us think we are looking for TE through the draft or FA to replace Gronk's production. Gronk with his ability of a pass catcher and a great blocking skill was exceptional.
It is time to change the offence scheme and create a little bit different based on power running game and exploiting more outside receivers. I believe TB12 having weapons like Gordon,Harry or Thomas will be able to create long passes to them.
With all due respect but the role of TEs in the team seems to be reduced to blocking the opponents, being a red zone targets etc.Gronk will not be back.
