Final looks at "pro" mock drafts

CB is one of the 4 premium positions in football. Taking one there is smart.

In the abstract, yes, but how does it improve this team?

It likely doesn't this year unless we can get a shutdown corner in round 1 like Baker. But for 2020 it could be a big help. Gilmore will be 30 and might decline, Jason McCourty possible will be gone as will Jones. dawson might move to safety.

The only corner i'd ideally want us to go after this year would be Greedy williams

That would be a tough choice. Hardman gives us a returner, and I love his speed and upside in the slot, but Boykin is probably a better complement to Deebo. I like Okereke as a running mate alongside Bentley but he definitely needs a year of seasoning -- his reads right now are a little slow, but I like his tenacity at the of attack and his pursuit in space. He's fast and rangy and could flourish under Mayo's coaching. Hollins interests me, but not until 134 most likely. Good developmental hybrid player who could turn into another KVN or Nink in time.

Who would you take?

Torn between Mecole and Boykin. Probably take Mecole in the hope that Gordon becomes more reliable. Also think I can get Mecole on the field more year one.

I actually posted to show the mock as it stands which is close to a perfect mock for me.

I go with Boykin. Mecole Hardman athletically has a pretty decent comparison already on the roster to Phillip Dorsett. You could also compare Josh Gordon and Boykin as similar players but I (with great sadness) don't have too much confidence in Gordon being on the roster this or next year.

I would go with Hardman but I see him selected between 45 and 75.

Bob McGinn has us taking Dexter Lawrence. Lindstrom goes one ahead of us to the Rams and Juan Thornhill goes at 30 to the Packers.

I'm not a fan of DraftTek, but they're doing something interesting, which is continuous live updating of their mock as the draft happens. For the record, here's their rather disappointing take as of noon on 4/25:

A more typical BB draft. Other than AJ Brown, mostly players that have rarely been mentioned on this board.

I'm a huge fan of Jackson and Joseph, and I'm intrigued by Wren. Tyler Jones is a slam dunk, too. I'd be pretty pleased with this outcome. :)

Count me in on Germaine Pratt, too. A funny-looking draft, but intriguing.
