LaAdrian Waddle gone to the Bills on one year deal

It’s not overly comforting that they made Brown the highest paid offensive lineman ever when they already had Penn under contract for something like ⅓ of the cost.

True, but he’s 36. Didn’t have his best year last year but was switched to RT. He might not have much left but a last run at a championship might appeal. The draft seems more likely, it was just the timing of the announcement that I noticed (not suggesting anything more than coincidence).

Damn. Would be a real shame if we get to abuse Waddle when we play the Bills.

I think he needs to be on the Bills until the 10th game of the season for us the get the comp. pick. If they cut him after six games we get nothing.

Unproven although perspective Wynn, no clear backups for OT. It needs to be fixed quickly. Offensive Line was the major factor of our success in playoffs and SB.

“ It needs to be fixed quickly” is the panic I was referring to. No, it doesn’t need to be fixed quickly, and the answer is already most likely there, that’s why he went where he did, and the Patriots rarely miss on 1st round picks. They have a long way to go and plenty of opportunities to use to put the entire roster together, and fill any holes they see.

Ok. It is the meaning of the adverb "quickly". I meant before the first game. Quick enough to safe Brady from the serious injury. Is that ok?

Fine with me, and to be clear that wasn’t just about that sentence, it was about the yearly handwringing when they don’t blow 180 million on two guys. They go about things systematically, and they know better than we do what holes have to be filled, and how to get there. Belichick will address the roster daily from now until September, and on and on.....

It’s not always pretty, but it definitely works.

Have any departed Pats OL played as well without Scar riding herd on them?

Good chance there’s a tackle for the Pats early, first round wouldn’t surprise me.

Josh Kline.

I wish Waddle stayed

Time for BB to get to work. Vacation over. They lost every free agent they had. Didn't they?

You can’t have “ proven and reliable” at every position in the first week of a new NFL year, it’s pretty much impossible. They have 5 1/2 months to finish putting together their roster, and the player expected to take over that role is a really good prospect. The panic in this forum is ridiculous.
I don't sense anyone panicking over Waddle being gone, but it would have been nice to keep a guy that clearly was well versed in Scar's system (4 yrs) and offered comfort as a back up (at least to me) given the lack of depth. We couldn't have offered him a year like Bills did?

Having most of the OL together for over 4 years is going to be huge in TBs performance this year. Giving TB an extra second will cure 90% of the concerns related to lack of a diva WR which has really created panic in the forum. Anyone new will take time to "fit in," like happened in 2015 which was an OL catastrophy and the cause for loss at Denver.

If Bill had never traded for the lost little Cookie, as some had regretted at the time, he could've used that 2017 1st-rounder on OT Ryan Ramczyk, as some had suggested at the time...and that 3rd-rounder could've been used on, among others, WR Dede Westbrook, who in 22 career games has caught 90 passes (from Blake Bortles, mind you).
