Colts sign Justise Hairston to practice squad

BTW I only mention him because the Patriots had drafted him and I think reached an injury settlement. Sure took Polian enough to take one of our guys, the Mangina has done that more than enough as is!

I always liked Hairston. Chapman, too. And Eckel. And Cobbs. And Womack. And who was that guy we traded to the Steelers? Patrick?

Come to think of it, the track record for running backs isn't very good. (Was Mills a RB?)

I wonder if this means Addai is hurt more than is thought. I always liked Addai. I rated him about Bush. Not to jinx the kid, but I really, really really like Addai.

Rumor has it he is having trouble lifting his arm above said shoulder. Hope it does not turn into a season long thing.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't wish injury on anyone.

I remember the first Colts play from scrimmage this year, when Addai lay on the turf. I thought then that this would be a wake-up call to Polian, that he would get the "2" of a 1-2 RB punch.

But he didn't. Maybe the UDFA backups will work, maybe they won't. But it's crazy in today's NFL not to have a good backup RB. Even that sometimes isn't enough. Where would the Pats be if they could have run the ball at the end of the AFCCG?

I like Hairston, but I don't think he is the answer to carry the load if Addai truly is hurt.

You guys need to be looking for a RB, even if Addai can play this Sunday.

That is pretty much the sentiment among Colt fans. I can appreciate "promoting from within", and maybe Keith will be able to carry the load, but it sure would be nice to have a vet in there. I didn't realize (or maybe I just blew it off) that Chris Brown didn't get any looks, and resigned for less with the Titans. Not sure what his cap number is, but with all this "relief" from Simon, Glenn, and Freeney, I would have thought they would make a strong move. In the end, I think they are just rolling the dice, if they can get through the season with the RB's they have, affords more flexibility to resign guys like Clark and Sanders.

Was it Cobbs to the Steelers, or are you going back a ways? Funny how we had the same likes for Pats RBs. I was even a big Harold Shaw fan back in the 90s.

One of the big reasons I'll miss Hairston is that he's the only guy I got right regarding the Pats' 2007 draft picks (saw the Pioli college connection and thought they'd give him a shot). I thought he'd develop into an inside ground-gainer, but it looks like Sammy can do that all too well.

What? You didn't like DeCori Birmingham when he was here? (I think you named every other recent RB that we had in camp)

I agree with you, I was really hoping he'd suck (or at least be painfully average) but Addai gets it done. Wonder what the Addai vs. Maroney debates are going to look like in a few years.

Who says we're going to miss Hairston?

Think of it as a paid undercover gig.

One week before our game with the Colts we can sign him to our 53 man roster and pump him for information.
