I may be in a post-Super Bowl state of football euphoria, but I'm going to give the new league a shot.

I'm interested to see some of the ideas they have for new rules in action, and they've got enough guys I've heard of where I think it might be worth a look.

I know there's a handful of former Patriots in the league... Tre Jackson, Sealver Siliga, Trevor Reilly, Xzavier ****son, Matt Wells, Devin Lucien, Steve Beauharnais, Sterling Moore, Bishop Sankey, and Chris Martin were the guys I recognized while looking through the rosters.

And if you're a college football/NFL Draft follower - as I am - there's a whole slew of guys you've heard of. Personally, I'm a Florida Gators fan, and the team in Orlando has a ton of former UF players, as well as Steve Spurrier as the Head Coach, so I guess they're my team by default.

Interested if any other Pats fans are going to watch.

I'm watching, hopefully its not terrible. I usually go into a funk for a couple months after the NFL season is done. I hate basketball and hockey is only good when the playoffs start.

so you watched the Pro Bowl
I think pick up games and pro bowl are polar opposites. One is unpaid and highly competitive might even end in a fight. The other is highly paid and uncompetitive and has zero fight.

So, I was all set to jump in as a Birmingham fan. Trent Richardson, woohoo! Then I did some research...

The D's are not allowed to rush more than 5, and a pass rusher cannot be more than 2 yards from the LOS. Immediately I smelled the unmistakable scent of ****ification and scrotum-less football.

Whaddya know? Bill f'n Polian is the co-founder and President of this league. Holy ****!

I'll watch, just because. But I am rooting for an epic failure.

I'll root for Vince McMahon next year instead, I guess.

Good thing the European soccer leagues are entering their stretch run gives me something to watch through May while keeping up with the Patriots offseason. Perks of being a soccer fan

Yeah, I saw that this week, too. I guess it was a last-minute change based on what they saw in pre-season. I get why they're doing it, but it's still disappointing.

I'm still gonna watch.

The idiotic kickoff rules alone are reason enough for me not to watch. Y'all enjoy, though.

I mean, kickoffs kinda suck, for the most part.

60% of kickoffs result in touchbacks. They're the most dangerous plays in the game, and you're more likely to see a holding penalty than a long return.

Ouch. That hurts.

Just stating what I perceive to be reality. I think the rule changes you saw to kickoffs this year is basically the NFL's last gasp attempt to save it. Which is why I'm interested to see what a game looks like without kickoffs.

I'll take neither, thanks. Why can't there just be a regular league with regular rules for these fringe guys to play in?

The rule changes are what have lessened the play in the first place. And 'football' without kickoffs isn't football.

The defensive rules are mainly due to this being the 1st year of the league and offensive lines having little to no time to practice together and deal with blitzes. They're just making sure every play doesn't end with a sack. I don't think it'll be that big of a difference since coordinators will get creative with how they use 4 or 5 to create pressure. Anyways, the kickoffs are fun to watch, but do cause an incredibly high amount of injuries in comparison to their value. I'm more interested in the 2 point conversions that they're gonna use.

I think that this league will do better than XFL because it's not a fake football + WWE combo. I'll be watching tonight and hope that it might be something new to look forward to on the weekends.
