I hope Gilmore sticks around. I doubt it, but hope.

Gilmore will be with the Pats at least in '19 & '20. They can only save $6m after next year on the '20 cap and if he is playing at the level he has would be absolutely stupid to cut him.

Question will be 2021, $16m cap hit, could save $12m. But if he is still playing as even a top 5-10 CB and with the cap continuing to go up, you ain't gonna get a top CB on the market for $12m.

It will be interesting if JC Jackson continues to improve 2021 is his RFA year. Could place a 1st round tender and that could mean having Gilmore & Jackson for the next 3 years, letting Gilmore playout his deal fully and then giving Jackson an extension after 2021 which he'll only be 25.

my takeaway

the rams would pump each other up, console each other, accept blame for their mistakes....all good

but did you hear them say I love you to each other?

the patriots said it so many times

one was a team, another was a family

no contest

Just another way the Pats are ahead of the curve. When the 01 Rams came out as individuals, the Pats were a team. Now that other teams are learning to be a team, the Patriots are playing as a family. Once the other teams catch on and start playing like a family, the Patriots will link their brains with diodes and play like a Borg Collective.

Thank you. I appreciate the details.
That's reassuring. I really hope that happens.

BB pulls some crazy moves sometimes.

It is sweet to have a top corner on our side. It seems like ages.

I could see the FG discussion being used as a case study at Harvard Business School or other business schools. They watch that, stop the tape, and then have students discuss whether they think this was good or bad management on a scale of 1 to 10.

In addition to going for it and kicking the FG, trying to draw them offside was also on the table. They still had a TO I believe. Going straight to kicking it was a show of confidence in Gost, and also avoided the possibility of false starting yourself.

Probability of Gost making kick and making it a 2 score game = 80%

Probability of converting on 4th and inches for NE based on 2018-2019 data (kneel downs would end game) = 50%

Kicking and taking the points was the right decision

Brady in huddle next series after the pick.."I'm not making another mistake the rest of the night"
He fumbled? Or he does not consider that his fault? OL?

Still cannot figure out why this game was "boring" I know I look at the world of the NFL thought "Blue Tinted" Patriots glasses, but none of this is boring, edge of my seat watching, even started on the fingernail again... can never get enough of the mic'd up stuff put out by the NFL.. only thing missing is the commentary of Steve Sabol..

Lots of posession changes in a game where everything constantly cuts to commercials - that weren't entertaining this year - killed the experience way more than the quality of the football.

Donald talked all that thrash begging for one-on-ones and when he finally got them, Thuney and then Mason schooled him.

I thought I saw Brown level him once too, flattened him like a pancake and fell on top of him.

Man, I don’t even want to think about it. Probably something like “what just happened” repeated 150 times since that dude can’t seem to say anything just once.

Nomination for Funniest Post of the Week

so BB is on the set with Earnie Adams asking him if he is "good" with a FG??
no, i think he covered the mic, and turned to his left to ask that to Judge, the ST coach, he can't easily be seen in this gif because its so short

Apparently it isn't airing on NFL network in the next week. It is posted on NFL.com if you search, but start with Bill complaining about the roof or you have to watch it backwards.

McVey was really being an accommodating and sweet father/coach through the game. Like in a kind, encouraging voice "Hey Jared buddy. Let's just take it easy and play smart. We're still good" even after the interception "OK, buddy, nothing's wrong. We can still do this."

I'm thinking BB may show a little more directness and sense of urgency if we was down in the super bowl.
