He said in an internview that he still doesn’t watch any film.

I hope Trent recognizes that and wants to stay. Pats should re-sign him and Flowers. Full stop. you can't teach size for Brown, and Flowers is a rare combination of talent and humility - willing to do what he's asked to do to WIN.

Build the DL around Flowers. Add Wynn to the mix and their OL will be top 5 for the foreseeable future.

I'd like to see both back, as well. The problem, if you want to call it that, is that we're really looking at at least 3 big ticket players (Brady) with contracts that will need to be addressed, and the Patriots don't usually deal with that many big contracts in a single season.

Brown is probably a "walk away" kind of player, where the team has a number in mind, and will walk away if Brown's sought after number is a certain percentage higher.

Flowers would seem more likely to be a higher/highest priority signing, where the team will be more aggressive in attempting to match others.

Brady would seem to be a fairly straightforward 1-2 year exception, but Brady's age puts him in uncharted waters, and one side of the other may have to give more than they thought they would.

For me, I'll be just as interested in watching the cuts/restructures/retirements of the higher paid players, because that's where the retooling could be aiming at.

Gronk
Hightower
McCourty
Allen
Cannon

And Clayborn factors into this too.

I get that, but LT and a DE who can disrupt the passing game and set the edge...well, their aren't many more important things on the field.

I expect both Brown and Flowers like being here. And that BB likes having them here.

Obviously, the restructures/retirements/cuts are going to be really interesting this season. Isn't Cannon signed for three more years?

I think the idea was to have Brown bridge the gap between Wynn's rookie year and him ready to start. Interesting now that Wynn had that torn Achilles and may not be ready for sometime.

I agree about the first 4 not playing in NE on their current contracts but Cannon very well could. He is a boarderline elite RT on a reasonable contract.

I've been one of Cannon's biggest supporters here, I expect him to be back, and I want him to be back. I'd love to see Wynn as the floating backup, and he could probably do that at both the tackle and guard positions. My reason for having Marcus on the watch list is that he does have the injury issue and, if the Patriots are looking to both keep Brown and save some cash somewhere, Cannon being cut is one place where money could be saved (2.8 dead, 4.75 saved).

I don't disagree with you. I just think that Brown has shown himself to be worthy of the position, and I'd rather have something we know works than gamble on a 'rookie' coming back from a popped Achilles, as long as the asking price isn't insane.

And I'm guessing (could be wrong) that you'd be comfortable with that, too.

Cannon's on a team friendly deal that runs through 2021.

Yeah, I saw that too and it concerned me. He "doesn't feel like he has to". I guess it's working...what do I know?

I think he means in terms of studying the DE across from him. I highly doubt he's not paying attention to install and scheming, or else he wouldn't be on the field. He just means that he trusts his technique and athleticism against all comers. And, given the results, I can't argue too much. He's pretty impressive.

Like I said, whatever he's doing is working. Was just weird to hear, even if he does only mean film of opponents.

if he has a different attitude now that he is winning than previously...ok

but what if that attitude changes permanently after a ring? there are players who just don't give it their all anymroe after either a huge contract or ring...is he one?

So what if he reverts to previous form?
After all, Brown started 26 games for the Niners in 2016 and 2017. Von Miller called him “the best right tackle in the National Football League” in the summer of 2017.

Have loved having Brown here and exceed my expectations.

I don’t see him returning, despite HOPING he will. Mason is the long-term guy, Andrews and Thuney are the cheaper « team guys » that some people grumble about from time to time (which I think is a bit much - they’ve earned every penny IMO). Cannon is the vet who was once maligned, but has since become more than good at RT. And, really, I see Wynn as the 2019 starting LT...

The numbers Brown will see elsewhere are sure to be higher than those BB is offering. Hope I’m wrong.
