McVay and Zimmer might probably be the only coaches BB goes out of his way to appreciate what they do. He respects almost everyone (with the exception of clowns like Tomlin), but you can tell from him talking about Zimmer and McVay that he really appreciates how they coach their teams.

The thing that excites me from that is that BB has been watching (perhaps preparing for) the Rams all season.

A pleasant contrast from studying the same tired offenses run by retread coaches who shuttle to new cities after their most recent failures.
Could be Belichick is intrigued by a RBcentric offense dominating the scoreboard, the type of offense BB envisions for NE in the next few years during Brady’s twilight.

McVay is a brand new coach in NFL (pretty much), he might be bringing some new things to the table, i wouldn't be surprised if BB pays a little extra attention to those guys/teams throughout season to see if he can learn anything from the young bucks

BB is too good at what he does to not look as far and wide as possible to better himself
