Back about a month or so, I decided to self-ban myself from Boston sports radio...

This momentous life choice turned out to be everything I hoped it could be... a soothing balm of non-negativity. Day after day completely devoid of idiot jocks trolling us fans and bashing Brady, BB, the offense, the defense... I just spent time on this wonderful site, and, you know, actually watching the games. :)

Today, I briefly lost my mind, paused my radio ban and tuned in Blowhard with Squeaky and the Douche on 98.5.

First words out of Blowhard's mouth were, 'the Chargers are better passing than the Pats... better running... better on defense... and MAYBE the Pats have a SLIGHT edge on special teams. The Patriots will need TWO special teams or defensive scores to win this game.'

And just like that... the Boston sports radio ban is back.

This time, though...

PERMA-ban. ;)

I did that ten years ago and never went back. no more idiots like felger, spaz, tanguay etc. no more listening idiot callers, its been so long i can't remember their names, but they were serial morons. I don't miss it at all, its garbage. And at one time i spent eight or more hours a day listening, one day i had enough and went cold turkey.

Passing game I would say yes they’re better. As for the running game they may have the more talented RB but I’d give us the edge especially with Gordon banged up. They certainly have a better pass rush than we do but they have no LB’s and a solid secondary (with a great safety) while we have solid LBs and a great secondary. I would give us the edge on D. As for special teams I think both teams have good special teams that honestly could be the difference if one team makes a play.

It would be one thing if the ahh er 'on air personalities had insightful comments but in Boston ,
at least, its all about getting ratings through bashing the teams, its absured.

Except for watching Boston sports teams live, there's literally no good reason to even own a TV.

I agree, and I've said this before, but listening to sports radio here on Long Guyland, almost all the NY sports radio guys actually are rooting for their teams.

I quit after the Atlanta SB. Instead of celebrating the win Felger wanted to build up controversy about something Bill did. I can't remember if it was a playcall, challenge or whatever but I was like WTF they just won the SB does anybody really give a flying F today about this? Maybe in a week we can debate something now trivial but let's just bask for at least a day.

Boston media loves the fellowship of the miserable and would love a return to that mentality.

Hmm, Interesting concept. Rooting for the teams they cover.

used to listen via interweb, especially during playoffs, trying to get insights, but gave that up years ago. Now, this site is my source for Pats news and commentary.

Colin Cowherd said on his show today that WEEI has a bunch of angry guys that like to yell at each other. I thought that was pretty funny.

I only listen to talk shows for entertainment only. I really don't care if they say anything bad about the Pats. Most of the time like on ESPN, guys like Max Kellerman have to take it a step further in order to stay relevant.

i banned myself over 12 years ago.. . Camera gate was the end of my listening to new england radio in general.. I couldn't even stand to listen to AAF in the morning when they talked about it too

Dale and Keefe were my last hope and, as I wrote today in another thread, even their negativity this morning caused me to go to music. A sports city and region such as this one deserves far, far better. By and large, sports talk radio and the local sports TV shows are embarrassingly bad.
