12/20: Patterson not at practice either; Slater practicing with WRs

This is the last year of Patriots Dynasty 2.0. It's 2009 again, not in the sense of the teams results but in terms of an aging roster and a series of disappointing drafts. In 2010, it was said they made some big reevaluation of their scouting department and the types of players they were drafting. I think another reevaluation would make sense here.
I nominate this for understatement of the decade in terms of it may be time for a reevaluation of scouting.

I like this as much as I liked Larry Izzo playing LB....

Anyway, I am done whining. No one has ever called me Dr. Sunshine of love and happiness but it is what it is, in some perverse way it is more fun to watch this team. I have honestly no idea what team will show up week to week.

Go Pats, lets hope for a truckload of lightening in a bottle.
11-5 still a good year. We won a Super Bowl with that record. Went to two others pre-Brady with that record. I'm still enjoying my pats, and I did back in the early days too.

Officially an illness.

It was time to address a couple/few key positions back in April, as opposed to stocking picks for the future. That decision has cost them dearly this year.

For example, any of these positions could have been addressed with high round picks: DL, LB, WR, CB/S, and arguably QB (for the future). They would’ve improved the competition for roster spots our team both for 2018 as well as the future. Even choosing two of those selections (WR and DL) would’ve made a serious impact on the current roster. I suppose they felt that they were alright with vets and that they could wait another year, but it didn’t work out.

Instead, the one we did address (RB) hasn’t even been used effectively. There are plenty of times where Michel looks as though he’s running well, and yet they seem to go away from the running game altogether. It’s been frustrating.

You mean like the last game where they ran Michel for a handful of plays briefly in the third quarter, and he had gains on every play, so they then of course went away from him?

Adding Gronk, Hernandez, and McCourty were instant hits that immensely helped our fortunes in 2010. It's tough to expect that much success in the upcoming draft, but we'll see.

I think the lack of draft hits that others have brought up is a real problem. After all, with the salary cap the way it is the only way to have a real advantage over other teams (other than coaching) is to have guys outplaying their contracts. Usually that's where guys on rookie deals would come into play.

Over the last 4 to 5 years (in which guys would still be on their rookie deals), you could make a case that only Trey Flowers and possibly Sony Michel is outplaying his contract. As such, the Pats have no advantage in this category. Instead you've got guys like Dwayne Allen who are overpaid.

When Patterson being missing is a cause for panic that’s when you know your roster is f.ucked.
So many things wrong with this post. (1) Anyone panicking doesn't know much about this team. (2) Patterson has proven himself a valuable asset to the offense. (3) He reportedly was missing from practice due to illness, not injury, and likely will be available Sunday. (4) Even without him, the team has three capable WRs to fill the breach.

Good thoughts it is quite easy to fall into the trap of how bad this over performing team has been since 2001... I often hear how they came into 2018 with no good receivers.. Jordan Matthews, Kenny Britt and Malcolm Mitchell were anticipated to make an impact, but injuries made things much different..

This is where I was before Gordon got hurt. Just thought, they’re healthy, let’s see what happens! But losing Gordon just makes it sad.
