Bruins 2018 - 2019 Season

Halak starts tonight in Nashville. Glad to see that Butch is finally seeing the light.

Buh-bye Toooooooooka.

Take as much time as you need to resolve your "personal issues", which should include learning to stop a puck even if it changes direction slightly.

Bergeron out at least 4 weeks with Lower Body injury.

Critical Mass has now been reached.

Bruins stats that may only interest me:

#1 in NHL .......Goals Against/game....55 goals/23 games

Eliminate 4 stinker games when the B's gave up 7, 5, 8, and 6 goals totaling 26 goals.
55-26=29 goals/19 games (1.52 GA/game)
Impressive

Given all the injuries on defense with Chara being the latest....
The sucktitude of Rusk at times
And now Bergeron on IR......I am intrigued to see how Boston fares going forward.

I've been saying to myself for the past few years that Boston has no shot progressing through the playoffs with Chara as the backbone of the D. I love the guy....but....his skating is a massive liability. I would love Boston's young D corp to solidify and come together allowing the coach to drop Chara to the 2nd or 3rd back line.
That being said, Chara is the B's leading defenseman scorer with 3 goals...and all defensemen netting a combined 7 goals in 23 games.
Krug....0 goals....yikes....8 assists.....pretty good.

Of course, the B's have scoring issues....near bottom of list....goals/game... and the Bergeron loss is going to be felt on both sides of the ice

3 of next 6 games vs. high scoring Toronto and Tampa.....let's see how the makeshift B's navigate this stretch.

Another interesting stat: For a team with twice as many wins as losses, individual +/- are as anemic as I've ever seen on a B's roster.
Best forward is +3 ....6 players including Bergeron (imagine that).

This is an unfamiliar team currently at a crossroad.

Besides the Marchand - Bergeron - Pasternak line that no longer exists, there is really one main reason above all others (the aforementioned trio notwithstanding) why the Bs are even in this position (though I still believe that will not be sustainable):

Jaroslav Halak.

In one of the very, very rare positive moves this generally incompetent FO has made, signing him back in July has been a Godsend. The OT win vs Sh!tsdirt was an absolute Masterpiece.

And lo and behold, with actual legitimate competition for starts, Toooka Rask is finally performing as if he is attempting to justify his bloated paycheck...I just wish that David Krecji would attempt to do the same. I still cannot stand the sight of that ssslllooowww, can't-shoot-worth-a-sh!t fraud. What a disgrace. He should be feckin EMBARASSED to collect his check.

Rask #4 on NHL Goalie salary list despite being signed 4+ years ago. A

NHL Rankings

All Sweeney can hope for is a playoff bound team dealing with a goalie injury goes all in and relieves the B's of their albatross.

Krejci.......pray for retirement

Both signed thru 2021.
Chara might still be around next decade as well :)

"Both signed through 2021..."

Unbelievable.

That feckin Chia Pet Peter Chiarelli. Feck him to hell.

I will be so feckin happy when Edmonton (for whom I have absolutely NO love whatsoever) realizes its mistake and fires his incompetent, derelict ass.

Unfortunately, teams that like their young players have to overpay and sign them to essentially lifetime contracts. And because most good players never make it to the open market, GMs feel the need to lock up and over pay their fading stars.
That Krejci signing proved how helpless NHL GMs are these days.
A "Hold your nose" as you hand over the pen for this type extension
The B's demonstrated who they are last night.....Solid D + 2 goals = their typical offensive output. Margin for error is slim.

I haven't watched one game yet this season...that's how uninterested I am in this team. The Bruins really don't seem to be picking up any pointers from the other pro teams in town. Pats, Sox, Celtics all seem to be run by competent folks but the Bruins seem to not get a whole lot right.

Ruins claim LHC Gemel Smith off waivers from Dallas.

Gemel Smith hockey statistics and profile at hockeydb.com

Hey he's gotta be better than Acciari, Kuraly, Wagner & Nordstrom right?
Apparantly not...

And just as I declare Kuraly to be no better than Providence material, he scores the last 2 game-winning goals. I still know that he's no better than a 4th line Centre, but I have to give the devil his due; he's produced more than Colby Cave has, though both of them are equally inept at face-offs.

wonder what it would take to get the Blues Shenn AND Tarasenko?

And so the lousy week continues...first Rask in a game vs Montreal he really needed to win, and now Halak vs the lousy Flyers. I guess we now know why Halak was able to be signed so relatively cheaply.

Saw the Bs vs Rangers game on the NHLN, NESN feed. That was the worst effort during their man-advantage times I have seen in a while. Late in the game at the start of another power-play that yielded nothing, Jack Edwards stated that they have derived 30% of their goals on the man-advantage, the highest % in the league. The average per team is 20%. In other words: if they don't score on the power-play, they don't win

saw the Blues v. Bruins game. Bruins looked pretty good but the Blues are a dumpster fire so...

Too bad that he, nor anybody else not named Marchand, Bergeron or Pasternak, can't deliver some pure, even-strength goal-scoring. It's absolutely feckin pathetic just how one-line-dimensional this team has become.
The Ruins should become sellers at the trade deadline, not buyers...but they won't.

I don't trust Sweeney making trades. he is better at drafting players. he should concentrate on that. god, help us if he's looking to make trades.

His drafting isn't much better either. Passing on Matthew Barzal & Kyle Connor has been unforgivably franchise-******ing, and whoever recommended Zachary Senyshyn instead of them should be Fired.
