I don't really **** on our coaching staff, but you're acting like the Patriots are up 28-7 at half. It was a horrendous playcall that let Minnesota back in the game. End of story.
This blindness to the other 80% that worked great are exactly what is the problem with this entitled piece of **** fanbase. There were 2 bad playcalls in the entire half. Most of the rest was great design against a good defense but none of it matters. Because Gronk blows a block, Edelman drops a pass on third down and then gets interfered with on the goalline.
But for some reason people loved the touch pass to White that got them a huge yardage. Most probably because it worked. If this one had worked we would have heard how great the play design was because we used the Vikings aggression against them. But Gronk unfortunately blew that play.
For some reason I have heard less moaning and whining when Brady threw that 50/50 ball to Gordon last week on 3rd and short which was an even more absurd decision. But most probably because it was a pass and Gordon was involved nobody cared.
Also lets not forget Brady can ****ing check out of it and call a normal run. But most probably what he saw from the Vikings defense didn't make this a good option.
I just think the risk/reward wasn't worth it. That play could have gone badly with a botched snap and ended up a fumble.
If you want an outside run, give it to Patterson. That play is literally why he's on the roster. He'll get you the half a yard and might get you more. A pass there with their secondary depleted is fine too. Your worst runner on a trick direct snap out of shotgun just isn't a good playcall in that situation. Honestly may have been a good call had they gotten the 1st and 10 though.
