Didn't Miami face a potential local TV blackout (late 90's / early 2000's) when they couldn't sell enough tickets to a home PLAYOFF game?

Lived down there for 9 years. Florida pro sports fan bases are the worst there are. They love to claim attendance sucks because there are so many transplants rooting for other teams but that’s ridiculous that there aren’t 60,000 people in the Tampa Bay Area that root for the Bucs? Please. When the Rays were good they had to give away playoff tickets so as not to be ridiculed on TV for having a half empty stadium. The Bucs even in Jameis’ first year or so (lots of FSU fans in that area) had fairly crappy attendance. They’re just crappy fans. I remember when I first moved down there I was amazed you could just mosey over to Dale Mabry Hwy and buy a ticket for $20 a half hour before the game. Most of them don’t even watch the game. They hang out by that stupid pirate ship and get hammered. Needless to say I’m glad to be back in New England.

Getting hammered in a pirate ship sounds like a fun time! When do the Pats play down there again?

The Jets? They have a die hard fan base that dislike the Giants. They are all Patriots haters. All games are sold out. There is a waiting list to get season tickets. With the masses of people in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey filling seats won't be a problem regardless of how they play.

Season tickets or personal seat licenses? How does it work when the rats and giants share a stadium.

A person can live in the "NJ Jets area" and still not have an informed opinion. I'm glad to have helped with that. This is an exchange of ideas/information, not about winning and losing.

Worst fans bases? I think that’s debatable. They are not as into pro sports, the population base has a lot of preixisting fandoms from transplants. That doesn’t mean the ones who go are the worst fans.

A lot of the college fan bases do not like those areas of the state. I.e. many Gator and Seminole fans even in South FL hate all things Miami sports due to the Miami Hurricanes and thus don’t like the fish, and don’t really have a connection to TB or Jax. It’s almost as if the fact that there are multiple teams make it less likely to follow than if there was a singular team they would follow.

As for the Bucs, many fans have jumped off the bandwagon since most of all think Jameis is a scumbag and especially those fans who despise FSU, again college feelings taking the priority.

There’s definitely your fair weather and less than loyal Floridians, but it isn’t one singular thing. The passion is there for most things college and there’s only so much sports energy no matter where you go in the country, with some areas like New England being an exception not the norm.

Don’t the Lightning have a good track record for attendance in hockey?

Bucs fans didn’t show when the team went 10-6 (against a ridiculously soft schedule) and they had a young Josh Freeman throw something like 26 touchdowns to 7 INTs. If you have a first round QB having a good season on a winning team and fans don’t show then I don’t know if they ever will.
Most Bucs fans I knew wouldn’t go to early games because it was too hot and then by late season they were out of it and they had already lost interest. I guess it’s a lot easier to get a bunch of college kids who were going to get hammered regardless of whether there was a game or not to just get hammered at a college game. Kind of a captive audience since UF is in the worst part of the state with nothing else to do. That being said FSU fans forgot they were fans until Jameis and Jimbo started winning and they dusted off their jerseys from the back of the closet. Canes fans are some of the worst there are. Their games are almost always half empty and there’s more people that tailgate than actually go to the game.
As for the Lightning that is the only team in Tampa with good attendance and that is a recent thing. That is the team they all hitch their wagon to at this point since they’re winning.

Some teams have window smasher warnings. The tickets have specific instructions NOT to leave tickets visible in your windshield because someone will smash your window and leave several more.
