The Josh Gordon Thread: Pats Officially Acquire Gordon for Fifth-Round Pick

Well Gordon is a proven. We saw glimpses last year when he can back. The guy was stuck in a crap hole. It’s worth a gamble.

I am sure the coaches prefer someone with a higher floor but lower ceiling that can be projected because they had months of experience with him this offseason to a "gamble" that has done nothing on the field for about 5 years.

If this were April and you can have 90+ player rosters it is a different story.

By all accounts, Britt looked fantastic catching passes from Brady in minicamp a whole 3.5 months ago.
Against our defense though
What about a d like Jaxksonvilles

QBs featured in that video: Jason Campbell, Brandon Weeden, Brian Hoyer

I think perhaps Bill and Josh watched this Josh Gordon video, of his highlights SINCE 2012:

His record setting year was 2013 - not 2012. And you mention Jason Campbell and Brian Hoyer being his QBs. That's kind of the point... makes it all the more impressive. He's returned briefly at times, like this year where he had a highlight catch in his very first game with little to no training camp with Tyrod Taylor. Even 2 years ago in pre-season, having not played for 2 years, Gordon made a couple ridiculous, Moss-esque catches against the starters (Brent Grimes on the coverage).

Remember Dion Lewis looking like an All-Star in 2015? That was after being out of football for 3 years. You don't suddenly lose your talent.

The point is that Gordon isn't suspended right now. If guys like Alan Branch, Aqib Talib and Corey Dillon could revive their careers due to the team environment in Foxboro, so could Gordon. Key word: could. Nobody here is guaranteeing he'll be 2007 Moss, nor are we pretending his off-field issues are the exact same as prior players.

While I like Britt just fine, has he ever done anything in the NFL to make you think he might have helped them yesterday in any significant way?

That's the difference between Britt and Gordon. Gordon is also more likely to flame out, sure, but Britt isn't much better than what they already have.

Also Gordon can Beat man coverage with his Size and Speed unlike the statue Britt.

I would have loved a guy like Fitzgerald who still has some wheels left but he’s making 11 million. The cardinals season will soon be over.

Brady is 41 years old and you give him Chris Hogan, Cordarelle Patterson, and Phillip Dorsett as his top 3 WRs. There’s a huge problem there. These guys won’t get any separation against good man coverage defenses unless it’s garbage time.

Please Bill, go out and get some WR talent for the old man. We can’t expect a 41 year old Brady to make perfect throws into tight windows anymore

Britt's got over 5,000 yards in his career and 32 TDs. I think that could have been useful on the field yesterday.

Great, then sign Britt, cut someone who's not living up to what we need AND go get Gordon. In fact, trade the guy you want to dump for Britt to Cleveland along with a low pick.

I like Hogan. I like Dorsett. I'm intrigued by Patterson. I would want any one of those guys on my team if I were a GM. But since I'm worried about Edelman, whose only getting older and takes a lot of tough shots, it seems clear to me that none of Hogan, Dorsett, and Patterson can be THE guy on the field.

If Britt is an upgrade, sign him. If Gordon is available, sign him, too.

Dez Bryant is pry looking more attractive to the Pats and Eagles.
I'd much rather have Gordon.

Is that PatriotsPimp? He is the black hole of optimism and anything positive.

People had optimism last season talking about how the defense had the lowest ppg defensively but didn’t take into account how they made average QBs look great. It reared its ugly head in the super bowl. This defense won’t change. It can do a better job on 3rd down. The offense will get better once Edelman comes back but it doesn’t have the big strike capability.

We know Chris but I would take Dez right now too beggars can't be choosers.

Yes! Not sure what his problem is or what Patsfan2's problem is but if they think they are going to pollute this board with garbage they are sorely mistaken,

In pimps case he is just padding his post totals. Its obvious

Patsfan2 is a troll. And a bad one.

Blame Malcolm.

We are probably gonna find out in the next hour who wins the Gordon sweepstakes. My guess is Eagles. At least it's good for my fantasy team...
