Someone make Bill and Josh watch this

QBs featured in that video: Jason Campbell, Brandon Weeden, Brian Hoyer

I think perhaps Bill and Josh watched this Josh Gordon video, of his highlights SINCE 2012:

It’s obvious how this is playing out. Patriots will offer Gordon an incentive laden contract, while other teams will be pony up on guarantees. Considering the guy hasn’t seen a paycheck in two years and is about as unreliable as it gets, he would dumb not to take as much money as he can, and he may be able to avoid offset language voiding his signing bonus, considering his addiction problems. The Patriots have never offered close to that risky of a contract, especially going against a large number of bidders, and they won’t be signing him.

Only if he's released. Supposedly the Browns are trading him before 4pm today.

Not sure why 4pm today matters though. Maybe it's when they're on the hook for another weekly paycheck or something?

But if he's traded, he's still under his rookie deal. 790k this year, and still controlled in 2019.

Why bother giving it a shot with Josh Gordon? We have Kenny Britt coming back!

At this point of the season..

Britt is actually a more exciting thought than Gordon for the sole reason that he actually was here throughout the preseason and has experience with the playbook. The rumored extension offer from the Pats at least kinda implies that they were satisfied with what he looked like.

With Gordon literally everything would be a projection. Even the question of whether he would show up for practice on any given day.

Now if we were in March or April with lots of time to get Gordon up to speed the situation would be different.

Typical of the eagles. They wanna load their team with more talent on the offensive side of the football. Guess the pats will have to setttle for kenny britt.

While I like Britt just fine, has he ever done anything in the NFL to make you think he might have helped them yesterday in any significant way?

That's the difference between Britt and Gordon. Gordon is also more likely to flame out, sure, but Britt isn't much better than what they already have.

Seriously we never can agree with anything. Gordon would excel in any offense because the guy’s a player when he decides to play. He’s a great route runner. Britt doesn’t have much left.

Britt's got over 5,000 yards in his career and 32 TDs. I think that could have been useful on the field yesterday.

He is exactly the kind of receiver that we don't have in terms of his body size and playing style.

The problem for me with people wanting Gordon over Britt is simply timing. Nobody is saying Britt has as much potential as Gordon showed 5 years ago. But Britt's floor is substantially higher even if the ceiling is obviously lower.

But look at it just objectively. Do you want the lottery ticket who might not understand the offense and one day not show for practice because of yet another relapse ? Or the guy who was here in the offseason into training camp and allegedly was offered an extension.

As a fan I can see the allure in the unknown. But from the coaches perspective Britt makes so much more sense.

I'm predicting Bill will sit on his hands as the Eagles grab Gordon, while gifting Brady with Jace Billingsly and Kenny Britt.

Once edelman comes back the offense will get better but you can never have enough playmakers especially when you have a leaky defense and need to put up points.
