I hope Mr. Davis is prepared to write a nice fat check back to the Bills for his signing bonus. As a vested veteran, his contract was guaranteed once he was on the roster for week one. Now he won't get 14/16 of it and if the Bills wanted to go after his signing bonus ( $1.5-2 million IIRC) they probably could, if only to prevent a bad precedent for future FAs....

Some reports suggest that Vontae reaggravated a groin issue he'd struggled with previously. That's plausible.

For what it's worth, I don't have a problem with him calling it quits. And he made extra sure to apologize to his (former) teammates via Twitter.
