Last year, when the Patriots were looking kind of rough at the start of the season, especially the defense:

Patsfans.com - "You can't just judge on the first game or two. You need to give it a full quarter of the season, at least".

This weekend, when a few players and teams have struggled:

Patsfans.com - "Well, we've seen enough of all these teams and players to know that they are hopeless, suck and can't get better. The first week of the NFL season is always perfectly indicative of how the entire year's going to go".

True... We cannot judge or predict the future for the Lions under Coach Patricia BUT WOW WOW & WOW!

I feel badly for Matty P and each shot of Josh Mccown makes me hear "if he dies, he dies" which makes me feel worse.

You think he’d know a thing or two about Jets after going to plane school.

What a "knee jerk" reaction. Lol

You give up 50 points to a 4-5 win team, can't stop the run or pass (from a QB in his first start), can't run the ball, can't throw the ball because your QB is running for his life, can't punt, because you can't cover the returns, can't kickoff, because you can't cover the returns, and can't make chipshot field goals.

That's not 'knee jerk'.

That is the definition of a fundamental collapse in all three phases. The Lions have done nothing well, nothing. A moment here and there (the pick 6, one of the throws to Golliday they protected all right), but outside of that, it's just non-execution.

And it's not the players. This team went 9-7 last year, just missing the playoffs, with a lot of the same players returning. They shouldn't be getting rolled like this, at home, to a top-5, top-10-in-the-draft team, with a rookie QB in his first start.

It's a non-competitive effort. There's one person who's responsible for making sure the team is prepared and competitive. That's the head coach.

Horrible QB play, still gotta put a lot of this on Patricia.

Jets D won’t be so “swaggy” when the goat plasters 4 TDs on them.

I put very little on Stafford. He's been nearly knocked out for the season twice this game, and been running for his life the rest of it. If you're going to put a % on Stafford, you have to put a bigger % on his sieve they call an offensive line.

You gotta understand, I'm going by Stafford's entire career. The guy is garbage. Can someone tell me Stafford's record again against teams that end with a winning record? 0-156? Stafford sucks. He always has sucked. He always will suck. Stafford is garbage. He always leads these comebacks and people think, omg Stafford almost did it, crazy! But people forget that Stafford was the reason they were in the hole in the first place.

Jim Bob Cooter was being hyped in helping Stafford last season. But Stafford was same old last season too. Stafford the reason they're in a hole, Stafford almost makes the comeback but comes up short.

Matthew Stafford sucks. Stafford should have never been paid what he got in his last contract.

Finally, I'm not absolving Patricia's responsibility in all this. And as much as I'd like to trash Patricia because of that report in the off season where he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman when he was in college it's only Patricia's first game so you gotta cut him some slack.

Edit: I said Bob Quinn was a dumbass when he gave Stafford that contract. And it sure is proving right.

Jests vs fish next weekend. One of those teams will be 2-0.

My man...it was sarcasm. Relax. I gave you a winner in the post I was responding to. I completely agree with you.

Well I give MP props. We had a top 10 D every year he was here with 5th best last year and leagues best D the year before. I am glad he is doing the HC experiment someplace else though.

New play-by-play guy sounds like an upgrade over the atrocious Sean McDonough

Jason Witten seems pretty unremarkable off the bat.

Matt P didn't have his team ready to play. That's on him.

2nd game will have a similar score. Yawn. time to call it a night.

it's only Patricia's first game so you gotta cut him some slack.
He's sure dug himself a big hole to climb out of.

Same division as Vikes Packers, and Bears, and two weeks from now:

One thing I did forget about the Gruden-era Raiders.

We're going to see the real, old-school version of the WCO. Slant to Cooper was very Rice-like.
