Oldenburgh Goes Over to the Dark Side

If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.

So THAT'S why I got such a good deal on that elephant!!??

Can someone please explain to me how filming an opposing sideline in public, in front of 78,000 people is so much worse than bringing in and interrogating a former employee of another team regarding the plays he learned in private from an opposing team's coaching staff?

One of them is against the rules. That makes it worse by definition. Change the rules and the standards change.

Didn't Oldenburg's brother show up here before the draft saying they were both huge pats fans and hoping he would get drafted? Then he got drafted by the pats and they couldn't be happier.

I, too, agree with your line of reasoning. BB/SP mined a similar vein in 2000 & 2001.

BTW, how the heck do you pronounce "Oswlek"?

ahz'-wih-lek

Yes, I remember the brother been quoted to that affect. He was then drafted by the Giants I believe, cut and we then picked him up. It'll be interesting if he sticks with Jets.

Oldenburgh was a 5th rounder by NE.

The guy drafted by NY was Zak DeOssie.

Think for a moment and you'll know why BB was so POed that Mangini went to a division rival. BB knew that Mangini knew BB's draft philosophy and the way he stashed developmental players on the PS. Mangini has utilized this insight and cherry picked our castoffs (but guys we INTENDED to develop) to shore up his weak areas without spending draft picks. Mangini KNEW how strong our OL was and knew we'd pick late round developmental guys for Scar to train for the OL. His problems at OL depth and even 1st team made us a target. I'd commented on this during the discussions of who'd make the 53, saying that guys like Ellis & Oldie would be Jets, especially given the Kendall fiasco.

Yes, which is why I continually stated that I thought what the Jets were doing was smart.

The only thing I would rebut with regard to Clint here is that he was released from the PS. Unless NE was just releasing him temporarily to give them someone who would offer better looks with regard to Buffalo, they were done developing him.

But I would bet a large amount of money that Elgin was an example of what you are saying.

I think we both would say that NE has in the past sometimes dropped guys off the PS whom they still intended to associate with later, just to fill a more urgent need.

[tin-foil hat on]

Or BB and Old have an agreement that he'd go to the Jets, learn their playbook and terminology, collect his salary, go through the motions and stink up the joint when given a chance on the field or in practice and do everything humanly possible in getting cut by the Jets only to end up back in Foxborough. Suckers fall for it everytime.

Woops! I was thinking of OL Chris Patrick, who's also no longer with us!
