I’ve been clearing out my DVR of last year’s games, freeing up space for the coming season. I watch a game one last time and then delete it.

As I was watching, I was struck by how often Brady yells “319” just before the snap.

Anybody know what this means?

Wasn’t that a band in the 90’s?

QB's either call a couple of plays in the huddle or have additional plays they'll plan for during pratice.

Green 19 is just letting the players know which play they're running.

If you remember the " Jordan Jordan " play from a few years ago I suspect that was a play they drew up during the week or even during the game on the sidelines looking to take advantage of a certain defensive look or match up.

Yeah but if you take Blink-182, divide the 18 by 2 and add the result to 311 you get 320 which is pretty close.
You sir, have deflowered me of my first genius award. Congrats. I assume we’ll have an awkward exchange at some point down the road, perhaps at a busy Waffle House restaurant, or maybe a Bed Bath and Beyond store.

If you hadn't deleted the game, I'd ask you to look at it again and watch what happens every time he yells Green-19. Look for a pattern, something similar that happens every time, pre or post snap.

I don't think Green 19 is a specific play rather the "original" play or first play called in the huddle. I think it's simply code for "hey guys, we're sticking to the first play I called in the huddle".

Then you have the "alert" plays. "Alert Alert" Which is sometimes used in blitzing situations or could be also used to change the play at the line of scrimmage.

Since we're on the subject, you'll also hear "54 is the Mike" which is telling the linemen who to focus their blocking scheme on. Mike is in reference to the Middle Linebacker (Sam, Will, Mike) but the called "Mike" linebacker doesn't have to be the middle linebacker or a linebacker at all rather it's the guy the QB wants to focus the blocking scheme on which could even be a Safety IIRC.

Brady will do a lot of adjusting at the line whether it's just a simple Green, moving receivers around, pointing his fingers to the side of his helmet or calling an audible.

Shout out to the folks who live in SE Iowa

Here's the Jordan play.

Calls out the "Mike" with "94".
"Green 19"
"Jordan Jordan"
