Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

Yep. Has to suck to know that you put it all into preparing and executing for that game and the coaching staff, through their decisions and game planning, put the knife deep between your shoulder blades.
If only Malcolm took care of business

Why is Amendola even answering these questions? I do not think the team has moved on at all. One could say Danny is speaking for those who cannot. And even he prefaced his remarks with “ I have my own thoughts” meaning he really did not share his true feelings.

He likely could have if not benched for the entire game. I haven’t seen any reports nor any evidence nor any quotes from players which supported that brain dead decision and supported sticking with the Big Nickel when you obviously don’t have the personnel to run it successfully against an offense like that. They got exposed in it vs. KC in Week 1 and they were getting tea bagged at halftime and still they decide not to adjust? Amendola deserves to be pissed off as do other players. BB is the GOAT coach, but his decisions here directly lost the team this game. He betrayed himself. He said he makes decisions that are the best for the team to win the game and the ultimate goals are Super Bowl wins. But he cost them this game.

Huh? He was very clear with his feelings.

It'll live with Malcolm too.
Doubt that. He got paid and has two rings. He also has players publicly having his back while the coaching staff here is getting the tar and feather treatment.

I know how you feel Kontra and I respect it. I'm still pissed.

Malcolm said he wasn't 100% locked in to play. BB agreed. That's it.

Malcolm was also on the field during the KC game so not sure that's relevent?

He said he wasn't locked in to play the SB. If that doesn't bother him for the rest of his life then that is concerning.

I think he feels much more strongly about it than he let on.
Maybe. I thought he came accross as still angry and distressed over it and feels entitled to an explanation. Which he is not.

It is unlikely all 53 guys are 100% locked in on any given sunday.

If someone is 75% locked in, do you bench him? I wouldn’t.
All we know is for the biggest game of the year, Malcolm didn't meet Bill's standard.

Listen nothing was working and the guy was on the bench suited up. For one bad play he can make another great play. I just feel you go with all your horses and that's it.

If Butler is his friend and he was concerned enough to ask about it (I read DA as saying he asked the team that question but not Butler that question), then why hasn't Butler told him the reason (Butler knows the short answer here - he just isn't offering it while playing the victim and not-so-silent good soldier after his big contract - and I like Butler, even if he screwed up here)?

Neither DA nor Butler are returning, so I would really like to hear actual answers rather than the "he would have helped" crap (try "he was sick, and was over that by Tuesday that week but was caught doing a line with a coach's wife after curfew on Friday so got benched" - How hard is that to write?). DA offers nothing in the way of actual observations as to whether Butler was practicing and healthy and when. The coaching staff will not answer this (if it is to spare Butler from public discussion of a disciplinary issue, then these players are being POS's for not explaining that knowing the team won't respond and clarify while taking shots publicly).

If Butler screwed up and violated team rules and got himself benched, then with this information we can lament the fact the Pats have and enforce rules in this loss and debate whether this was the time to let that slip (again, there is precedent in Welker for sitting a player for a series for a violation, but not a whole game). Barring the unlikely receipt of an accurate statement from a former player or current or former coach, this X-Files "smoking man" theorizing rolls on, with the coaching staff getting the scorn (they deserve it if sitting him was petty and vindictive, not if it was reasonable).

In retrospect, Bill may decide to do things differently. He probably thought that the pats could get away with beating a backup QB without Butler. However, no one knew Foles was going to have the game of his life, including Bill. I know I was expecting something along the lines of the Atlanta game. But once Bill makes a decision (good or bad) he sticks with it.

Always interesting hearing more info and opinions from those inside the organization on SB Sunday. Less interesting hearing the same rehashed opinions from members here both pro- and anti-BB for the decision. We heard you the first time...or first 50 times for some of you.

Regards,
Chris

If my source knows then Danny knows. This whole thing is so crazy I don't know what to believe anymore. My source is good so I have to believe it but there is no way my source would know and Danny not.
