IIRC employees needed to reapply for their old jobs and pay/benefit cuts were expected for those who stayed. That sucks.

Howe may have enjoyed it immensely I suspect he is realizing a better financial package somewhere else.

I dunno if he can. I also dunno if he and Howe are best of chums--didn't they get into a spat over Bedard claiming Malcom Butler looked disinterested in training camp? Which in retrospect, Bedard probably was right about.

Athletic could put a real bind on Boston Sports Journal--they have the brand name and the national backing at this point. Bedard keeps promising extra bells and whistles like podcasts and footballs X's and O's but hasn't delivered yet... He's gonna have to get his ass into gear.

I don't know. I can't speak for Marqui on this, but my post was a question/guess, based mostly on the Herald's new ownership reportedly doing interviews with already hired staff as part of retention decisions a while back.

I've always liked Sean McAdam and I'd consider a subscription if he had his own site. As much as I like Howe if he joined BSJ he, McAdam and Miguel together still wouldn't be enough to overcome the idea of someone I despise as much as Bedard getting a dime of my money. Howe, McAadam and Miguel added to The Athletic lineup would have me signing up tomorrow.
