Very little cap room to work with at this point:

-$5 million for rookies
-$5 million emergency funds
-$5 million leftover

They might also be looking at re-doing Gronk’s contract so that’s going to eat up more cap space.

Rookies will take around 2M cap space at current picks (trade down from 1st takes off another 0.5 or so). Plenty of ways to get more cap. Cap is not key issue. If they like/need someone they'll go for it within their player/value assessment. They are working w 3 year budget vision and that situation is pretty healthy as one would expect w BB.

Would we have interest at that price or are we good?

I don’t know if Gronk is going to want to play into 2020 and 2021. My guess is he wants as much money up front as possible given he may retire in the next few years. If I am his agent I would say no way to that contract offer.

Good point: this year *If he going to play* could realistically be Gronks last year. And he probably wont restructure which brings us to Brady's situation. What if HE doesn't want to restructure this time around?? What if he wants one of those Front Loaded contracts?? it would be his first and last. I think the Days of us being masters of the cap is coming to an end.

GRONK, currently:

YEAR .. SLRY .. SgnB .. WklyB .. WrktB .. CAP
2018 .. $8M ... $2M ... $750k .. $250k .. $11M
2019 .. $9M ... $2M ... $750k .. $250k .. $12M

Convert all but $1M of each of his 2018 & 2019 salaries to (guaranteed) signing bonus, + guarantee both his 2018 & 2019 salaries, and extend the contract two years (to age 32) to spread things out. This gives Gronk $17M in new guaranteed money ($21M total).

YEAR .. SLRY .. SgnB .. WklyB .. WrktB .. CAP
2018 .. $1M ... $5M ... $750k .. $250k .. $6M ($5M reduction)
2019 .. $1M ... $5M ... $750k .. $250k .. $6M ($6M reduction)

Added years:
YEAR .. SLRY ... SgnB .. WklyB .. WrktB .. OptB .. CAP
2020 .. $11M ... $5M ... $750k .. $250k .. $3M ... $20M
2021 .. $13M ... $5M ... $750k .. $250k .. $3M ... $22M

The Max Contract Value is $54M ($13.5M AAV), including $17M gtd. This is roughly top-10 WR level.

But wait! Call now and we'll include this beautiful set of handcrafted Ginsu beer mugs, absolutely free!

This will not be happening at all now that we acquired his twin brother

Im guessing that is a done deal if he actually visits.....I thought BB had mentioned this guy before....
Isn't this guy the poster boy for "made of glass"? He missed tons of games the last two years.

Binky alert! Let him heal up & he’s a potential steal. Breaux saluted me at Pats training camp, it’s meant to be.

I kind of agree with your point, but he was underweight when he was drafted. He then lost 40 lbs. So, he has to gain 40+ lbs in 8 months? That is a tall order.

"Underweight" is somewhat relative for a guy who's 6'6.5". He weighed 302 at the Combine. Solder is 6'8.25" and weighed 312 pre-draft ... around 325 now, but he likely didn't get there by his first year starting.

Healthy Breaux would be awesome.

There is a very low chance that Healthy Breaux will ever return.

He's probably cheap enough to be worth it either way.

I can think of a few:

- Cyrus Jones: Jury is still out on him...could bounce back.
- Adam Butler: That was a good find last year. Could be better this year.
- Derek Rivers: Was looking good before he went down.
- Deatrich (sp?)Wise: Think he will be better this year.
- Eric Lee: Could be something next year.
- Harvey Langi: Could be something next year.
- Cole Croston: We wouldn't have kept him on the 53 man roster for no reason.
- Antonio Garcia: Let's see him put weight back on and go through camp.
- Philip Dorsett: Another year in the system could pay dividends.
- Kenny Britt: See above.
- Jacob Hollister: Thought he made some tough catches in limited appearances last year.

We have something to work with....2-3 of the guys above could have significant roles in 2018.

I think Ted Karras would start on many teams right now.

Shouldn’t our first question be why he failed the physical?
Why do that when you can create a conspiracy theory instead?
