Who will sit on the bench for a year behind who?
Waddle or Fleming

When are the Patriots going to realize that they are missing a left offensive tackle?
draft 3 linebackers in this next draft.
That seems excessive, don't you think? Hightower and Van Noy are locked in as starters. If we return Flowers as you suggest in your post, then he's depth in subpackages. So where would these three new linebackers even play? I assume then that you would cut Roberts. The depth chart is starting to look awfully cluttered in this scenario.
I'd love to draft a linebacker, and maybe double-dip late, but three is just an overreaction.
If we draft 1 LB, you’ll get your wish. We just happened to pick up 2 of them last year and not this year. Langi & Rivers, or did you give up on them already?
Not an ideal solution but the Patriots better re-sign them soon before their price tag balloons out of sight.Waddle or Fleming

Haven't given up on them at all, but I do think we could add a linebacker. Two is probably too many, but three is utterly fantastical. Where would they play?

We have got our needs in the draft. That is for sure. LT, future CB prospect, LB and maybe a powerful RB. Unfortunately this draft is poor in LT so I think we should take someone in first round. BB has not tendency to draft LB in the first round ( Mayo is the only exception comes to mind as we taking about recent years ). I will not be surprised if we trade a first round for some extra picks. That seems excessive, don't you think? Hightower and Van Noy are locked in as starters. I'm pretty high on Langi - kid never stops running. I hope he's okay after the miserable luck from last year.
In pre-season, Rivers reminded me of...Trey Flowers. Hope he didn't fall too far behind.
It's funny how players on IR or PS seem to get cast into oblivion as the next batch of shiny new toys shows up. The Pats have SIX guys who potentially step up big this year:
Riley McCarron looks like he might be a pretty dang good slot receiver.
Ryan Lewis is a guy they paid a lot to stay on THEIR PS when other teams wanted him. Promising 6' CB.
Andrew Jelks would have been a high pick. He's 6'6" and incredibly capable and never stops working by every report. His knees might doom him to never having an NFL career, but he's still in there, fighting, and BB speaks highly of him. Like Cannon, he's a guy who faced extreme injury-illness adversity and kept on plugging. I'm pulling for him.
Tony Garcia is another possibility here, but maybe not this year. Heck, maybe not ever, depending on why he had the blood clots. But they were very high on him, and many here were thrilled when the Pats drafted him.
Rivers and Langi, I mentioned elsewhere.
Every year, players come out of nowhere to become contributors, and other players (this year, Butler and Branch) fall way short of expectations. The Patriots have a ton of prospects in the pipeline already.
I’m sorry Reamer. I meant that for Chris. Just trying to remind the guy that some help is on the way.Haven't given up on them at all, but I do think we could add a linebacker. Two is probably too many, but three is utterly fantastical. Where would they play?

Not trolling you 50 but BB Rookies don't have good track record coming off injuries. Sad we never saw Rivers play Jelks knees are a mash unit. Tony Garcia needs to put a Ton of weight back on. That's two Third Rounders who are definite question marks going into year two. With our current situations on O and D we could be Drafting those Identical positions again... the more the merrier I guess.
No, I agree...but then, Rivers reminds me of Flowers (IR after 1 game in 2015).
Jelks and Garcia...Cannon. Jelks more than Garcia. Both Jelks and Cannon would have been out of reach for the Pats other than injury/illness.
The knees re a huge question, but ACL surgeries ain't what they used to be, and an OL seems like a place where the lingering effect of such an injury aren't as critical as, say, a CB or an RB.
Very little cap room to work with at this point:
-$5 million for rookies
-$5 million emergency funds
-$5 million leftover
They might also be looking at re-doing Gronk’s contract so that’s going to eat up more cap space.
So, without cutting anyone or any restructuring, they have 17 million?
Maybe offload a few guys and get 25 mill free, go after like three free agents on defense. Wonder if that’s doable
