Clayborn indeed: visiting tonight!

6'3" 280lb DE?

Sounds like a BB type. Poor man's Suh...okay, very poor, maybe.

All about the $$$.

There's not much subtlety or variety to Clayborn's game. He's an old school tough guy who will beat you up all game. He's not wildly productive, but he's a strong, aggressive player who can bring some attitude to your line. I absolutely loved watching him in college (not my highest ranked edge player, but probably one of my favorite to watch), and I wouldn't mind at all if he came on board as part of the rotation in NE. He's a limited player, but still useful.

Obligatory:

Eh...he's gonna cost too much for my taste given this cap situation. Unless the Patriots can pay Chaz Green to play LT for the opponent every week, that is.

PFF for comparison:

Trey Flowers: 7 sacks, 18 hits, 35 hurries on 802 snaps
Deatrich Wise: 6 sacks, 11 hits, 20 hurries on 543 snaps
Adrian Clayborn: 10 sacks, 8 hits, 37 hurries on 554 snaps

His pass rushing production is better than I thought (still very good outside the Dallas game vs. one of the three stooges). As long as he isn't that expensive it's an upgrade out there.

Clayborn
Flowers
Butler
Wise

That's a really good 3rd down pass rush. Need him on situational $ though.

BBs opening statement:

“Hi, Adrian, how was the flight? Good. You didn't mind taking seat 3 in 28th row? Good. You know our Nick here likes to fool around. All good? Ok. Look, i like you, i really do, but please don't mention those six sacks, that was child's play. I know high school kids in Boston who would've had at least seven against Chaz.. Remember this game?“

Turns on the SBLI game, 4th Q..

Would love this signing. He seems like a good fit. If BB wants to run a 3-4 he'd be a nice add.

Curious about his fit in a 34. He's as pure of a 43 DE as I've seen. What are you thinking about his deployment? Where would you line him up and how would you use him? Elephant?
