Am I the only one optimistic about Antonio Garcia?

Sucks losing Solder. He’s a good tackle, but the Pats were preparing for this. They drafted 2 Tackles last year.
The Pats could (will most likely draft at least one up high) possibly draft a couple more this year as they lost Solder, could lose two more to ***ency and have only one from last year's draft whose health is still possibly in question.

I don’t disagree on Ghost and I have no idea which kicker to draft. I just know we did the same thing with Vinateiri when we drafted Ghost. If we felt we needed space it wouldn’t be completely shocking.

But at this point based on the room we do have and the players we have let go. We probably won’t need to free up any room. If we are creative with contracts we can add 3-5 solid player with the existing room we have if we look for value deals.

We drafted Gostkowski after Vinatieri left for the Colts when he was a free agent..

I wouldn't be surprised if they signed someone like Greg Robinson on a short term deal and had him go against Garcia to see who would win the job..

F*cking Giants. 49ers may be interested too.

Funny how the giants have all this money. They have thrown money around like water. Theh should be in cap hell but they still signing these players.

Cards just released Mathieu. Pats need to be all over this.

Mychal Kendricks might be in play.
DW Toys

He is likely to be cut if PHI doesn't find a trading partner. I would think that some would pay him $6M(2018) and $7M(2019) and give up a 6th or 7th for the privilege. Alternatively, teams can wait and have the usual bidding war.

Dude missed his entire rookie year including all practices and meetings due to an illness that caused him to lose 40lbs. So yes, you are the only one to be optimistic about him.

Where did you see that he missed meetings?
Also, you don't know when the weight of 260 lbs was taken. If in December, he could put the weight back on by August since some of the weight would have been fat, not just muscle..

Robinson's been available since November when he was waived with an injury designation, so that seems unlikely.

One of whom was gone before the season ever started and the other, who's major knock coming out of college was that he was too lightweight, got IR'ed and lost something like 40lbs. I'm not sure how well those preparations you speak of panned out....

He would be a very helpful player, the ability to play pretty much every DB position effectively would be a boon to the secondary, and it would provide insurance for Chung and McCourty that we really don't have right now (Harmon is a nice player and can do some of what McCourty does, but we play big nickel often and don't have a backup to replace Harmon in that case; Richards isn't a nice player at all). We could effectively play either of the big dime packages with him there (3 safeties or 4 safeties) assuming team health. I wonder what his market will be?

Id take him over any other FA target but just dont see how the numbers will work out in a way where a SF or CLV doesnt just outbid us.

He would be THE Belichickian player though... perfect..

Only two major Patriots free agents left are Slater and Burkhead, by my estimation. Guys like Bademosi and Flowers are out there but they're replacement-level. Patriots should have $15m+ to work with, and could make more room with extensions or restructures or forcing Dwayne Allen to take a paycut. A splash signing like Mathieu or Suh is certainly within reach with room for a few value guys.

According to Spotrac they have about $11m in cap space. Not sure if that is accurate. You're right though. Several teams seem to have more cap space than one would think. Do they manage (or violate) the cap better than NE? I doubt it.
