The Watkins deal could be the type of deal that cooks looks for next season. Cooks is roughly the same age. Sign a 3 year deal which gives you the ability to cash in with another multi year deal in a few years

You are assuming that these players will give the Patriots a chance to match
the offers.

Based on the Pats history, it's highly likely. At least for the players they'd like to have return.

Depending on what Woodhead will command, he could be a good fallback/contingency option if we can't resign Lewis

Obviously not someone that can be "the guy", but as a rotational guy he could make up for some of Lewis' production loss, even between the tackles.

Lots of injuries in his past tho

Veteran minimum deal seems possible.

Yes. Because this is historically what has happened forever. You have to keep in mind that most players actually dont want to leave if it were not for better compensation somewhere else. And those that want to are generally also the ones that the team is not interested in extending anyway.

Bring Woodhead home!

IOW, low-tender RFA, $1.9M.

If the Pats were in the market for a WR, the Snead situation might be somewhat analogous to Hogan a couple years ago.

Why do they keep low-balling those RFAs ? Is it really worth losing a player for no compensation over that ?

He was suspended for a DUI, had 8 receptions last season, and muffed a punt. That was effectively the entirety of his 2017.

He's one season removed from a 72 catch campaign, but it makes sense to me that they'd be willing to let him walk if someone throws more money at him than they want to pay.

He will be cheap due to injuries (probably a prove it deal). He was a top 10 CB & giving Julio Jones fits in 2015. Interesting name.

Get on it New England we worked him out I believe but he had picked the Saints over us.
We should be all over him

The only reason Hightower returned last year is the Jets rescinded the offer
after he flunked the physical.

Or so they claimed after HT re-signed with the Pats.
