Patriots Defensive game plan in the Super Bowl

When I give it more thought, we should have expected this defensive failure. First clue was against the Jags. I've seen the Jags multiple times and their offense is super simple and usually sucks. It was the same offense as always and we seemed clueless on how to stop it until late into the game. And once again it took far too long to adapt. I guess Patricia was busy trying to adapt to Detroit.

With exception of Jordan Richards, the Eagles are not leaps and bounds better than us in any phase of the game. Big bad Fletcher Cox didn't do anything.

I don't want to bash Patricia too hard because he was clearly trending upward before this implosion but there are a few things to look forward to with his departure such as an increase in turnovers and possibly faster adjustments. For the last few years our defense sucks in the beginning of the year and steadily gets better. Maybe we can skip the almost historically bad phase next year. Also, from what I understand, the coaches who works on our redzone defense are still with us and they are the true stars.

Well our defense made adjustments in the second half.

I don't know how this team will replace butler but we have seen over the years how bill has failed at times with the secondary. The fact that he started Rowe over butler was asinine. The eagles know Rowe all too well because he played for them.

I don't subscribe (yet), so could you provide a synopsis for us cheapskates?

Marquis Flowers was used as a pass rusher on key downs and Trey Flowers was dropped into coverage or one of the safeties had dash to cover M. Flowers guy, which left a hole in the defense. M. Flowers was also used as a spy on a few snaps when the threat to run by Foles was minimal.

If so, then that's completely ass-backwards from what should've happened with both of the Flowers. Tre was our best pass-rusher, and Marquis our best run-and-chase LB. Switching-up assignments once a drive isn't a bad idea, but doing so once a series is giving their offense too many looks at their flaws and too many ideas how to exploit them...kinda like using Chung to cover Agholar, and Roberts & Richards to cover anybody with a pulse.
