Bill's on conference call right now

on Butler:
paraphrase: "Already addressed it - I respect his competitiveness. I'm sure he felt he could have helped. In the end I made decision to help the team."

Really Bill? You made a decision to screw your team!

I'm angered at him. He cost this team a SB. Can you possibly believe they don't get a few stops with Butler?

He and AndyJohnson and a few others believe that BB cannot be questioned. Only they are right. Put him on ignore, it’s what I do.

I mean, yes, I have always agreed that Brady is the key to all of this. Belichick is absolutely great, but Brady is the god.

No way brady would have been as great elsewhere. No way. Let’s not gloss over his slow starts in these super bowls as if they have no effect whatsoever.

Numerous dropped ints, balls behind guys, late, etc. he never seems ready to play, which is odd and becoming annoying. His brilliance in second halves, minus sb 42 and 46, have been incredible, but it is a 60 min game.

Completely ruined the defense. Chung had to play slot when he's an in the box safety, McCourty had to cover Ertz instead of play FS, Rowe had to play outside instead of slot, no Chung in the box meant the defense sucked against the run... entire defense was messed up without Malcolm Butler

So much garbage in one post. Amazing. Have you even watched the games or the coverages ? Oh boy..

Also special congrats on the genius move of saying Rowe should play in the slot (where he SUCKS because he is not quick) instead on the outside (where he is fine as long as he doesnt have to defend jump balls).

Is cleaning out your locker violating a team rule. If true then something triggered it which going to my theory led him to sulk/dog practice.

Disciplinary means punishment, right? It doesn’t have to be violation of a team rule. I mean there is no team rule per se not to murder someone but Hernandez did it...BB had wide discretion here.

Mike Reiss asked again on Butler reason - BB said lots of things go into the decision. He appreciates people wanting to get more info but that's not happening

This is what i saw on pft.com...not sure if it is true but the person did sort of sound like they had good info on it. He did fly out separately....just saying. Maybe found out about it before the game or something..not saying these sre facts, but if true, it would make sense to tilt decision. COuld be a combo of things.

So this is the article, and I see it's from a commentator named pastabelly who said, "Anything to the rumors that they weren’t happy that he cleaned out his locker and left no trace prior to leaving Foxboro?"

So why was Malcolm Butler benched?

While more plausible than the weed rumors in the other thread, this is still a random commentator. I could say, "Anything to the rumors that he was caught with an underage dead hooker the night before the Super Bowl?" and at this point it has just as much credibility in my opinion. I'd like to see a legitimate media source confirm this first.

The Badmosi missed tackle is mine. IMO that was a killer.

Just a great play by Foles and Clement. We can scream that it wasn't a catch but whatever. Whats done it done.
I’m not even sick about that call. Just the fact that an undrafted rookie RB looked like Antonio Brown catching a 40 yard pass with a linebacker at his hip and the safety an inch too late ughhhh

I'm sure Malcolm did practice. I have no doubt of that.

The question is did he practice and prepare at the level of satisfaction to BB, MP, etc.
Belichick just said on the conference call there was absolutely no reason for benching Butler other than that "it was his decision" and it was "best for the team".

Who still thinks the loss isn't squarely on his shoulders?
amazing. He played 100% of the snaps in the playoff games before the SB. 97% of the D snaps all season.. makes no sense.

I'm angered at him. He cost this team a SB. Can you possibly believe they don't get a few stops with Butler?

Again. Who cares if you are angry at him. You're not a Pats fan. You never have been. You've been a troll and more than a few people have called you out for your stupidity in Game Day threads because of how you troll.

Mike Reiss asked again on Butler reason - BB said lots of things go into the decision. He appreciates people wanting to get more info but that's not happening

The guy's a stone as a rock. It wouldn't shock me if butler had an argument with BB and he just decided to bench him. That's what I see here. Not this bs that he's throwing around.

He and AndyJohnson and a few others believe that BB cannot be questioned. Only they are right. Put him on ignore, it’s what I do.

Yep. BB gets a pass. He's a god. He can do no wrong. Well, the guy left a SB hero in tears on the sideline. He's a jerk to the media. Maybe it's time to move on to a new coach in a year or two. 19 years is a long time. I'll forever be grateful for 5 titles. But I'm sick and tired of hearing him say " it's best for the team". No you jerk. Having Richards & Rowe over Butler isn't what's best. I am so angered at this guy right now.

How did it go yesterday overall ?
Oh the gambling? Ended up +20 all in all. I should have bet the fourth down conversation and Dola over 40 yards.

The facts are these:

Butler played 97.8% of snaps in the regular season. He played 100% snaps in the two playoff games.

He played the most snaps by any defensive player last year.

He played zero snaps last night and it’s because he didn’t fit the game plan or Fatricia had “different” packages that didn’t include him...for the entire game.

If you actually believe that explanation, then either you’re an absolute imbecile or you take the coaches to be absolute imbeciles.

They benched him for something that had absolutely nothing to do with his ability to play cornerback. Again, a former ProBowl/All Pro corner didn’t play a single snap for what was one of the worst defensive performances in league history. We always make adjustments.

The only question that remains is what Butler could have done that the coaches would rather have blown the chance to win rather than play him.
@luuked really curious what there is to dislike in this post...

He and AndyJohnson and a few others believe that BB cannot be questioned. Only they are right. Put him on ignore, it’s what I do.

It has nothing to do with whether BB should be questioned. It has to do with @Pats1989 being a known troll.

BTW, SFBs, I've disagreed with BB plenty. And unlike you and others, I've admitted when I'm wrong.

Having Chung playing slot cb instead of Butler and playing Richards and Bademosi instead of Butler makes NO FREAKING SENSE.

BB: "I'm sure Malcom thought he could have helped - I'm sure other players thought the same thing"....
