Alex Smith will be TRADED to Redskins

What happens if Elway trades for Grap a first and Niners sign Cousins.
Or Niners Sign Cousins and Jags Broncos or Jets sign Grap that would suck.

The 49ers can't trade JG, because JG isn't under contract with the 49ers for next season.

Teams in line to bid for Cousins:

Jete
Bills
Arizona
Denver
Brown

May have an interest:
Minnesota
Miami
Chicago

Long shot:
Giants
Dallas
The first 5 might all have legit interest of various levels, but after that I don’t see it

Dallas - no way, Prescott on rookie deal
Giants - maybe, but don’t think they’re dumping Eli for that guy plus messy situation compared to first 5 options for KC

Minnesota - wouldn’t be bad fit, but will likely go to 1/2 of their 3 guys
Miami - same, but would have to find an out to Tannehill deal
Chicago - no way, new coach, all in on Trubisky for length of his rookie deal

See that's the kind of thing happening when you legalize it. You trade a 3rd and CB starter for a soon to be 34 year old Alex Smith and give him 23m $ apy.

PS: We all know it but trading away Jimmy G for just a 2nd rounder was even a bigger joke.

If he goes to the Jags, well...they're a legit SB threat.
But they were already. I think that’s a fine spot for him, but I think that team is about to hit some growing pains as is besides getting a new QB/leader.

Just lol at this whole thing really. I think Cousins could elevate the right team, and I think DEN or JAX is prob best for him, but he’s going to get paid like he’s TB/Brees/Rodgers and all the expectations that go with that will (rightfully so) be on him, and he’s....not.

Just reshuffling the deck chairs on the HMS 9-7 First Round Playoff Loss Express.

We want the Jags to stay with Bortles.

Miami staying with Tannehill
KC going with Mahomes
Redskins give the big extension to Smith

Let's keep that pre-draft QB market flowing!

Buffalo
NYJ
Denver
Cleveland
Arizona
NYG (?)

As of right now, that may (not will, but may) be all the teams looking for QBs, and willing to shell out starter money or high draft picks this year.

Cousins
Bradford
Keenum
Bridgewater

If we figure two of those 4 end up in Minnesota, just to be conservative, that puts 2 potential starters in play elsewehere. That could (not claiming it as a fact), theoretically, mean that as few as 4 teams would be looking at QBs in the high rounds of the draft. And, if Shurmur buys into the Manning/Webb duo moving forward, that could even drop it down to 3.
Now assuming any of these 1st round draft prospects are actually any good, I would think the SMART thing for Shurmer to do is to draft the one he likes and sit him for 2 years and THEN move on from Eli. If JG progression has taught the league anything is that sitting for a few years is a huge plus for a QB. So I think the Giants will still be in the QB market at draft time.

We HAVE to win the superbowl because, if we don't for the entire run up to the draft,(almost 3 months) all we will hear about are the 20 odd players who will never reach the Pats.

you think SF is also regretting it considering they havent been able to lock him up yet?

They have a window. This is a team built on suckitude and top 1-5 draft picks for the most part. They are going to get torn apart by free agency so they better get moving.

Buddy, you really need some new material for your constant attacks on the younger generation. Maybe one of these?

"The age in which we live, this non- stop distraction, is making it more impossible for the young generation to ever have the curiosity or discipline ... Because you need to be alone to find out anything." -- Vivienne Westwood, 1998

"Our fathers' age was worse than our grandfathers. We, their offspring, are more worthless than they -- and in turn are giving the world a generation even more corrupt than ourselves." -- Horace, 20 B.C.

"We were just as ignorant and repulsive as they are, but nobody listened to us.” -- Al Capp, 1960

Or maybe you should just remember the sage words of Adlai Stevenson, 1952:

"Nothing so dates a man as to decry the younger generation."

This is how you Patsfans everyone. The Moderatrix remains one of the best posters on this board.

The only thing they'll regret is not giving him a long term contract when he got traded to them. Cousins will change the QB market again and they likely have to pay top end money to keep him. If they think he is too expensive they could get atleast the 2nd rounder back with franchise tagging and trading him.

49ers simply won that trade.

The Chiefs are not a significant issue to us with Smith. Mahomes could be great but he's not gonna be great immediately next season, so this is good for us.

What's bad for us is that Cousins could land with Denver, New York or Buffalo. Denver still has Vance Joseph holding them back but either New York or Buffalo could become decent to great teams with Cousins.

The donkeys would have to release talib, sanders and some other players to clear cap space. There's no way that cousins should settle for less money after what smith got. I am sure Rodgers will want his money too.

Why would San Francisco trade Jimmy G why

Why would the 49ers even consider trading JG ? He has shown that he can make all the throws that Shanahan needs from his QB. He is younger, cheaper than the insanity that Cousins will get on the open market and has a higher ceiling.

Is game manager Alex that much more of a upgrade then captain "you like that" kirk?

Not an upgrade at all. Hard to imagine what Washington is thinking on this one.

Report is Broncos will cut Emanuel Sanders and I hope we are there to catch him.

Didn't we already try to get him and he didn't want to come here?
