If the Patriots win...

I just moved from Lawrenceville and it was a lot worse there lol

I just moved down here temporarily for a contract job. Haven't been out in the public much or at any bars etc.... so maybe I'm missing the hard stuff. Worst I've gotten was at Publix but the guy was funny and good natured.

But have you heard anything on their sports radio? I think it's FM 92.9? I haven't heard really anything other than the occasional Cheaters caveat which is usually thrown in as an afterthought but otherwise they pretty much tout the "I'm tired of the Patriots winning mantra" and a few of them want the Pats to win because of how the Eagles fans treated the Falcons in their last game. As far as Brady and Belichick go they are often referred to as GOATS or something related to that.

Yeah, the radio guys have bascially admitted defeat finally. I think some Falcons fans actually want us to win beacause of what you mentioned. I know Vikings fans are going to be rooting for us because of how bad the Eagles fans are. On the other hand, quite a bit of people at Publix, Kroger, dining out, etc just blubber cheaters. Some even say Ryan is the better QB because "he has never cheated."

Have you seen the ATL Patriots Group on meetup.com? I found out about it yesterday and plan on attending the Super Bowl party in Sandy Springs. Evidently it had 1100 people there watching for the AFC Championship Game. Going to be weird for me since I have always watched the games alone.

This year my kids and I are headed up to Maine for my brother's seemingly annual SB party. hahaha

But next season that will be something to check out. Thanks for the info. So let me know what you think of it.

Does the 2017 level of national hate for this team exceed the previously high 2007 level?

Absolutely. With networks like ESPN driving the narrative, and *****es like Jake Tapper whining and crying about the Patriots even before they beat the Eagles the hate festival will just continue to grow in strength.

Just think how big it will be if they make it 4 out of 5 next year?

For me there is MUCH less hate and "cheat" talk. Most of it is because of the team. I also think its the way I deal with that crap.

For example, when someone brings up Spygate or Deflategate I just say, "Yea, sure.....they've won 5 Super Bowls by cheating. When was the last time your team won anything?".

Its kinda like dealing with a snowflake that accuses someone of being a bigot. You don't sit there and try to defend yourself because that is a losing battle. Instead, you attack them and call them a racist right back along with several other choice words.

Well, some haters are actually haters, so I just call them haters. Just like the snowflakes who actually are racists but hate being called racists, and I have to remind them that supporting Nazi’s and Fascists actually does make you a racist, so they should just embrace their bigotry and hatred, and stop being snowflakes when they are accurately called out as such.

Will that jete fan scream and tell bill to suck his kids dic* again?

For people who remember that

It’s going to be insane when they win this time. If they make four out of five next year, I see max kellerman haning himself from a cliff

I see Kellerman glomming onto LeBatard’s take that Brady has become the first athlete to use HGH to lose muscle mass.

I wouldn’t be surprised, they are pathetic to the point where I almost feel sorry for them.
Almost. That theory is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Brady would no more take steroids or hgh then me eating barb wire

I can’t say that Brady would never take steroids, perhaps had he been a linebacker, TE, etc.... he may have seen the need and tried them, however he’s a QB and he recognized long ago that QB is not about strength it’s about understanding defenses, where the holes will be in them, and delivering the ball to that spot. As such he trains to avoid pass rushers and to stay in balance to maintain his throwing mechanics through the throw. And his coach for his passing mechanics is a former MLB pitcher who stresses maintaining arm flexibility as the key to throwing strength, not lifting weights. Brady does almost exclusively resistance band work to maintain his arm strength.

I could see that, if he was a linebacker it would be a possibility. But as he is now, he’s really a health and fitness nut and a steroid scandal would be a disaster for tb12 method. Also, the league is always looking for a way to punish him and they catch people who take peds. Hell, when he goofed his hand, he only took Toradol which is about as strong as ibuprofen, it’s a non narcotic pain reliever- anti inflammatory drug. That’s really remarkable in that it’s painful to get many stitches. Here’s a comparison. I cut my pinkie with a hedge trimmer and had six stitches, the pain made me puke. They gave me norco 7.5 pills and a shot of morphing at the hospital. I didn’t ask for any of that. That’s just standard for that type injury. So, this might mean Tom refused narcotic pain meds

Of course we are hated. Think about it. If it was not our team doing what we are doing. We would hate that team.

Nope.

Browns in the 50's.
Packers in the 60's.
Steelers in the 70's.
Miners in the 80's.
CowBoys in the 90's.

I admired and enjoyed every one of those teams. Still do!!

To embrace the hate, you have to understand the hate. Let's go down a hypothetical journey. Let's pretend the Denver Broncos had the success the Patriots have had over the last 20 years and let's pretend the Patriots were a mediocre team...say their record was similar to the Bills over the last 20 years.

So under those circumstances, the Pats (Bills for this point) make the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. Pats fans go crazy! They take, trains, planes automobiles down to Jacksonville just for a shot to be close to the stadium. The Patriots are the darlings of the country (absolutely no hate....nothing but love, love, love). If the Pats beat Jacksonville, we have to travel to Denver (the Patriots in this example) and play a team we haven't beaten on their field (in a game that mattered) in 20 years. You would hate the Broncos (actually in this case this part may be a bad example because I do hate the Broncos, but play along). The entire country would be routing for the Patriots to beat Jacksonville, and then beat the big bad Broncos! However, most of the entire country realizes the chances of the Bills beating the Broncos in the playoffs is slim to none.

Love = Not a lot of respect, have sucked or been average many years, pose zero threat to the rest of the league, and have no chance to win a super bowl.

Hate = They are dominant, we are scared of, we respect but will never admit it, we will find every bs reason to discredit them.

I could go on and on.... but this is the question to all. As a Patriot fan (don't forget, we are the Bills), would you show the Broncos (Patriots) and their deservingly arrogant fanbase love, love, love or hate?

Be honest.

To answer the question of the thread, yes the hate in 2018 will be at a high, and I would expect it to be.

Embrace the hate, let's move on.

Tapper was raised in Philly so it understandable why he is anti-Pats.....

I personally don’t think anything will match 2007. This comes close, but 2007 was the most vitriol I’ve ever see toward one team in my life.

That's why I joined this forum. It was impossible to find any objective discussion of the Patriots anywhere else. Before that I would actually try to discuss football at Yahoo sports forums! People were sometimes pretty reasonable there, but in the 2007 season it became unreadable just a stream of people crying about cheaters. This forum saved football forums for me.

I do think people are coming around to the fact that they are witnessing history, and a lot of people are starting to appreciate just how amazing it is.

What's weird is why wasn't there such hate for Jordan and the Bulls, or 49ers and Young/Montana? They were both sort of beloved and respected, but dominant, franchises. I do think it has something to do with the BS narrative the NFL has pushed about cheating (Ratgina is a piece of ****). I also think Belichick and Brady are not charismatic and likeable the way that Jordan and Young/Montana were. Belichick is obviously a curmudgeon. I don't quite get the hatred for Brady frankly, even before deflategate it was there. He sort of was seen as a pretty boy: I think people didn't appreciate his talent, just how good he was, until round two of his SB party. That's one reason I see the next SB as so important. Keep building that legacy and shutting up the a-holes who write for South Park.

So, to answer the original question, I actually think that the haters' burgeoning respect will continue to bloom if we win the next one, even if they keep talking trash.

I think you answered your own questions. Jordan was Jordan. He was god. His father was murdered. They dethroned the Bad Boys.

I recall there being more hate for the Cowboys as a kid than the 49ers and I grew up in the 70s and 80s.

I think we all know the reasons for the Patriot Hate.

-Cranky Dr Sinister/Mad Scientist/Zero personality Coach
-Brady= Christian Laettner
-Win too much spawns jealousy
-BS cheating crap

The BB hate is crap b/c if you ever took in Tom Landry, Bill Walsh or Chuck Noll pressers they were just as bad as Bill is if not worse. Especially Walsh. He hated the press.
