Tom Brady will be starting his eighth Super Bowl. He's the greatest quarterback to ever play the game and has been on some really good teams. In fact, his teams have been favored in 6 of the past 7 Super Bowls (now 7 of 8 with the one to be played), and yet in those 7 games the Pats have NEVER led for the entirety of the fourth quarter. In fact, they've found themselves trailing at some point in the fourth quarter in five of the seven (ironically one of the games in which they never trailed was the only one in which they were underdogs).

So despite having a clear QB advantage in some of those games (Brady vs Delhomme, Brady vs Eli) and the game's greatest coach, the games still hung in the balance in the fourth quarter. Should I really expect any differently just because it's Brady vs. Foles?

I'm really rooting for a blowout for my own sanity, but I think that's much more optimistic thinking than reality.

Those stats though really make you think............the Pats trailed in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl in 5 of those 7 games, and yet won 5 of them. That's amazing.

They didn't lead Philly for the whole 4th qtr?
They started their run winning 3 of 4 with the third being fully. They can with this 3rd of 4 by beating Philly again. Symmetrical but hope they start some other streak.

I think we have 8 of these threads already.

Sorry, that may be........but hopefully others appreciate these redundant threads about appreciating our fortune as oppose to the redundant threads wondering when it will end.

If you go by odds and probabilities.. a Patriots Super Bowl is DUE to have an imbalanced final score... one way or the other.... ANd I find it hard to see the Pats getting blown out no matter what... so a Pats blow out win is certainly possible.. its due.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Root to win. f**k when it will end. Accept that winning almost every close game is not luck, it is their strength.

Of course they'll slam 4 TDs in the 1st quarter if they are there, but they are not going to take risks on offense or defense to make a splash in the beginning, it's a 60 minute game.

If you go by odds and probabilities, you'd know that if you treat each Super Bowl as an independent trial then there's no such thing as a certain outcome being "due".

If you go by odds and probabilities, you wouldn't believe that at all because that's not how odds and probabilities work.

Bears S/Bowl qualifies for an imbalance- the wrong way.
In fact, pretty much every conceivable outcome has already happened, except one - blow out in our favor.

This is the one!!

sure.....and if a coin lands on heads 10 times in a row, it's bound to be tales the next time....right?

I wasn't suggesting two wrongs make a right, just suggesting that some 'wrongs' are worse than others.

And I agree that being poised under pressure is not luck, but still, it's football and a tipped pass can get picked off or a bad penalty could be called. So despite knowing that they are cool under pressure it's still insanely impressive what they have done.

Something seems to be bothering you. Relax, man, we're in the Super Bowl!!

Tied at beginning of 4th. I had to look that up too...
