Bad News Everyone - [Lombardi opinion on matchup vs Eagles]

Lombardi looks like a complete fool for his irrational Pederson hate where he basically called him a unqualified, horrible coach who would be fired within 2 years on podcasts for the Ringer and Philly radio for no reason and now he's the one who looks like all those things.

Prior to this, Lombardi has generally been pretty pro-Pats this year.
Yeah, he typically is pro-Pats. I suspect that his assessment of this matchup is truly how he feels. Doesn't mean he'll be correct.

I would assume that Bill will be stressing on defending the crossing routes in practice the next two weeks.

Again, I realize the Patriots had the ball and were moving it. The Blount fumble & pick six opened the gates for Atlanta. They need to not fumble, throw a pick six, or try and cute plays to start the first few drives. Play the game as if you're already down 21-0.

My point is: they can't afford to be messing around to start this SB. At some point, playing one quarter, or even one half, of great football against a great D won't be enough.

Atlanta was moving the ball pretty easily in the first half. Yes, offensive mistakes led to great field position for Atlanta. But the D wasn't exactly too good in that first half.
But that's BB's MO.

See what the D is giving you.
Wait until the D is gassed.
1/2 time adjustments.
No huddle/hurry up offense, sink the dagger!!

@Pats1989 is thoughtful with his football analysis....but still not completely bought in to why and how the Patriots win Super Bowls.

Is he beyond hope?

I am a person always striving to perform at an exceptional level. In turn, I tend to place those same expectations on my employees & sports teams. I am trying my best to find a balance. I realize how it can/ has negatively affected my image.

I am truly grateful for what this team has done over the years. It may not seem like it to most, but I truly am. I take at least ten minutes every day watching past SB's, AFCCG's, and overall memorable games.

I like you. You mean well.

After all the success they've had, my concern is you panic too easily when they are down. Why?

Also, Lombardi works for the Ringer, which is Simmons's site, which of course, are following every other outlets' lead, which is to bash the Pats, lie and mislead for ratings and clicks.

This is also the same guy who claimed Mallett was a "mid 1st rd talent".

He's got a good eye in general, when he's not working for a boss who tells him what to say.

He had a lot of free rein at NFL Network, but in between jobs or with some other outlets that tell him what to say, those situations are two different Mike Lombardis.
You are joking right. Lombardi worked for the pats. Bill b respects him immensely and has said so publicly. And bill simmons is a huge pat homer. Not picking the pats to win a game cause he thinks andy reeds offense is a tough match up, does not mean he is bashing the pats.

I'm done making predictions. No more predictions from me. If Brady wants to play left-handed with all backups spotting the Eagles 40 points, more power to him. Carlsen won a piece down the other day against Jones.

That said, in the preseason I said that two of the players I would miss are Long and Blount. I didn't expect to be meeting them in the Super Bowl when I wrote that. Blount in particular is an exceptionally classy player who feels like a winner to me. Like that guy we let go and came back and shut us out. And Long is smart and effective. I don't how much the fact that those two are familiar with Patricia's and McDaniel's play calling is going to be an advantage for the Eagles just apart from their play.

And again I don't think anyone would deny that the Eagles are extremely well-coached and resilient too.

I'm also deeply concerned about the Gronk situation. Before the Jaguars game I was worried about Burkhead's return because I said that receiving players coming off injury often seem to be ineffective for a while. Something about the timing. Even if Gronk does return, he very well might not be as effective (if he is on forced rest for a while). And what if Burkhead doesn't find his groove in the next few weeks? Can we really win entirely based on Amendola and Cooks in the flat?

Without Gronk the Pats lost to the Miami. If he's still out, what's better about us here? Harrison I guess. But the Eagles are surely strong than the Dolphins.

There was an all-22 video around here that showed the defense still a bit imperfect and letting a guy run in last week uncovered, likely because of the new faces. Another concern.

And I still find this apparently coordinated public relations broadside against officiating in Pats games the last month concerning. Could it be a setup for treating the Pats unfairly?

Not to rain on the parade but this vaunted Eagles defense allowed one point less than the Pats. Pats allowed 30 TD, Eagles allowed 31. Pats allowed 22 FG, Eagles allowed 20....
The one point I haven't seen mentioned is that the Eagles defense is very different when they go on the road and not in a good way. The Pats are just the opposite with a much better road defense.
Eagles allowed 188 points in 8 road games- 23.5 ppg
Eagles allowed 131 points in 8 home games - 16.4 ppg
Eagles defense at home (inc playoffs) 148 points- 14.8 ppg
Eagles are 9 points worse going on the road
-----
Pats allowed 132 points in 8 road games 16.5 ppg
Pats allowed 167 points in 8 home games 20.9 ppg
Pats allowed 201 points at home ( inc playoffs) 20.1 ppg
( first three home games well abysmal)
Last 7 home games ( inc playoffs) 93 points 13.4 ppg
Pats are 3-7 points better in terms of points allowed on the road!!!

Isn’t that the rating rex ryan read off the night of the Buttfumble? I think it is. Rex read it at the podium as a way to deflect from Sanchez.
Aren't they the same thing?

They are not. Passer Rating has been around for dcades with the more important metrics.

The QBR crap is an ESPN thing for fantasy football, which is why Rex Ryan reading off Sanchez'ss "94 QBR" at the podium after the Buttfumble game, was so damn funny.

Amendola prediction: 12 receptions 157 yards three touchdowns

Hey friend, your autocorrect switched the name "Allen" for "Amendola".

We all know this is the game that someone who has barely had any catches this season is going to go insane.

Umm, I am well aware and I am so aware that I knew Lombardi had inside info while at NFLN starting in 2010, because he would say something or hint at something, and within 48-72 hours it came true.

Then, we learn BB was using him as a sounding board since 2010, so I had that nailed the entire time.

I also laughed when he fleeced Grigson in the Richardson deal and then got fired for it.

Comical.

I also said hello to him in August 2015 at the Greenbrier. I know who Mike Lombardi is and I also know WHY he's being dramatic, claiming Philly is a disatraous match up for NE.

That's the difference. I know, you don't.
